Their reputation took a hit that's for sure but let's be honest Canelo is the star just broke Pacquaios record attendance with a unknown euro level fighter in Liam smith. GGG did 97k on ppv he's not known outside of boxing circles that's the reality. Tbh I see this as May/pac all over again I'm pretty all of this stuff is intentional to build the fight so we get 10 years from now

Today's article on this site is in response to O$car's latest rant as posted in the LA Times regarding the offer to GGG.

Boxing News 24 "De La Hoya: if Golovkin's not happy with offer, good luck to him."

There are numerous comments on other sites expressing the same opinion, the offer STINKS !

O$car is trying to build a case that GBP made an "offer to GGG" which he "ducked".

NO ONE except fo Canelo's NUT-HUGGERS... seems to be buying this.

I'm buying this because Loeffler did not deny when he addressed this and I don't nut hug any fighter it is what it is. Canelo don't need GGG, GGG doesn't need Canelo to do well but if wants to make a lot of money he will want to make this fight happen sooner rather than later in my opinion.

Anyone bringing this "Winner take all" nonsense in his discussions is clearly coming into Boxing after watching massive amounts of WWE content.

I think I have asked before, but where is this "free welfare handout" nonsense coming from?

The only time GGG has gotten a free payday is when a fighter is paying him step aside money NOT to have to fight him. I am sure you are aware of that.

He wants to fight Canelo. Toward that end I am sure GGG will put in a minimum of an 8 week camp, have to pay his team, he will have expenses to cover. The he will ACTUALLY show up on fight night to what could be the biggest fight since May/Pac and give his all to win and entertain the fans. Where in any of that can it be called a "free welfare handout"?

Loeffler addressed the offer and did not deny it. He also did not complain that they were lowballed.

When GGG was talking about expecting to be lowballed he said they would probably offer him something like 2 million. 10-12 million is far above 2 million and more than double of what Canelo got for fighting Cotto. Even though Canelo draws just as many fans as Cotto he took the Bside to make the fight happen.

If they fought while Canelo was champion and they could not negotiate the split would of been 55/45 in favor of Canelo. But since Canelo dropped the belt he has room to negotiate even though it was still a cowardly move.

No excuses, just vastly different circumstances that shouldn't need explaining.

20% to GG would be beyond a joke.

What sacrifice was he supposed to make?

GG hasn't had a big fight, because his main rivals have swerved him.

    GGGypocrisy at it's best.
Big Drama Queen Show involves some heavy tap dancing right now.

How much is GGG contributing to the sale of this ppv? How many fans does he bring that he feels he deserves a high cut?

A "Free-Handout" is the Opportunity to be a part of an A-Class event.
Everyone knows GiGi is hardly A-Class, although he's been given at least one half dozen opportunities to prove it.

There is really no difference between GiGi who has fought no one and expect A-Class treatment and Lucien Bute, who sat out the whole Super-6 and during that time fought his best opponent, Old Glen Johnson, with the expectation that he'd get a free Welfare handout for the opportunity to face the S6 winner.
    Welfare Queens!

Ok man. Kind of a weird analogy...but whatever.

Personally I see the first 10% to the winner then 60/30 would be pretty fair. Canelo then makes double GGG with the winner actually earning a nice bump.

Actually, I'd bet GBP is more interested in protecting the gate, PPV residuals, with the split being lest important because they have already set a maximum to K2 on the split.

As I recall, Hearn gave GiGI a flat fee for fighting Brook; $5M. Perhaps this would be fair for GBP also. They should offer GiGi a flat $5M.
