Nah, they've built this up for 2 years. This isn't some welterweight or drained ass cruiserweight.

It will do a little more than the Chavez v's Canelo fight. 1.2 to 1.5

my estimate also. it could go up significantly with an aggressive promotional campaign.

Although I detest PPV I do believe in rewarding those who make the good matchups, I'll bite on this one

Will be interesting to see if it tops the Chavez number, 2 mil sounds high to me

Canelo-Chavez was promoted very well with both fighters having huge fan bases. This fight, even though it is more competitive, will probably not get as many buys. It will do a little better than Canelo-Cotto though.

Casuals and hardcore fans will support this but I'm concerned that Canelo has lost face after his last PPV with his "core casual supporters."
I think this PPV break 1 million but 2 is stretching it IMO

Dude boxing PPV's have been killed by May v. Pac turd.

Kov v. Ward couldn't draw flies to **** which was sad. That says it all right there as those two guys CONSISTENTLY pulled impressive numbers on HBO.

Canelo vs Chavez almost getting 1m buys was an anomaly. Mexican holiday between a bonafide superstar and the lightning rod "son of a legend". Unfortunately, that fight just duped mexicans out of their hard earned money.

If this fight breaks 1.25m, and it definitely can, it would be a tremendous achievement and a good sign for boxing.

You have to bring the casuals to get to 2M. I don't think the casuals know enough to tune in. I think more like 1.3M will be the number.

2m is impossible. Only May v. DLH (2.4) and May v. Canelo (2.2) broke the two million barrier. And those were much much much bigger fights than this in terms of star power

Canelo vs Cotto and the whole mexico vs PR thing was only good for 900k as well.

Guys, this may fall short of that..

    nice one

completely agree with you--ie, let's talk sensibly about what would be terrific numbers for this fight--good for the event (everyone gets paid) and good for boxing

rather than choose some upward round figure like "2M" or an unrealistic benchmark like May-Paq

GGG-Canelo has to try to sell to skeptical casuals in a post-May-Paq world

May-Paq obviously didn't have such baggage, so unfair comparison

My co-workers know who Golovkin is... And they know who McNelo is. They also knew who Pacquiao and Mayweather were...

When people who don't know or follow boxing know certain names, it's huge.
