Golovkin didn't really impress me last night

It was one of his more pedestrian performances at least compared to what he usually does.

But we will never know how good he really is until someone actually dares to step in the ring with him with something to lose. Until then he'll keep steam rolling over ordinary opposition and people will keep criticising him saying "who has he beaten?"

 

GGG a limited pub brawler. No boxing skills and has only beaten D level fighters. Monroe exposed him. Fight him on the inside amd he will be cluelesd

 

I'm a fan, but I agree entirely with everything you've written.

I maybe wrong, but I can't see him as any sort of a force at SMW if he moves up. I wouldn't fancy him against Ward, Andre Dirrell, DeGale, or even Froch. He's not a big guy. I'd like to know what his fight night weight was last night. Do you know?

Too many left hooks to the head. He should've been more focused with left hook to the body and then follow up to the head. His conditioning made me think about how hard he trained for this fight, too. He was really winded after only the 2nd round. GGG is a good fighter, but, he is too in love with his power from that particular punch. He's got to change it up.

 

Monroe exposed him? Monroe had 2 mildly successful rounds, 3 and 4 and thats because GGG backed right off.

If ppl think he was exposed in that he proved quite easy to hit against a fast handed slick opponant then youve never seen a GGG fight before, hes never been pariculary hard to hit. Its just hes guna give just as much back and he hits harder than anybody who is guna be put in against.

If you plan to trade with him your changing your mind after 1 or 2 rounds. If you plan to outbox him you may take a few more rounds to be ground down .

 

I'd also favour Ward and Froch over Golovkin. Not sure about DeGale, he's still got a lot to prove like Golovkin if not more so.

But he beat Dirrel as an amateur but I suspect you are right. If his power doesn't carry over as well at super middle and he finds opponents standing up to him and pushing him back or standing their ground he might find himself out of his depth. He does what he does well but he needs to show more than just being able to walk opponents down if he is to go to the next level. He needs to show more versatility because we've seen big hitters get undone time and again when they have stepped up.

 

Cans? Geale was a world champ, Murray ran two world champs very close, as did Macklin - Golovkin put a hurting on all three.

Not to mention that the rest of the divisions doesn't want to know him... must just be you, buddy.

 

Everything you are saying is what people said about Manny and how Floyd has no chance. You guys just really have no clue and just think GGG like Manny is a machine. Wait till he gets hit by someone who knows how to hit.

Monroe showed GGG is a limited fighter if you fight him from the inside. He will be exposed and then forgotten mark my words.

 

It's one thing saying that once a fighter gets on the inside they will take GGG, but getting in there after taking his power and then applying your skills, whilst still taking his power, is going to be a very hard thing to do.

He is fighting regularly that he is not getting the chance to 'step up' in opponent levels and is not learning too much. He could have bombed out Monroe as a 25 year old. So at 33 years old he progression is not where it should be.

Step up and move up division.

 

In all fairness, Gennady is a small Middle.

 

All the guys at SMW have 2-3 inches on GGG. Unless we're talking bums they will all decapitate GGG. Froch would kill him, Ward would clown him from the outside. Even B class guys like Sturm (who ducked GGG like the plague) stand a chance of outboxing him because of the reach advantage.

Why are people not asking Cotto or Canelo to move up? Why just GGG? This is a travesty.
