Dammit, if I'd read to the end of the thread I should have known that Barcham would have posted the truth. Would have saved me some typing.
Given that the Ward fight has gone, what would you have him do then if he can't get the unification fights at 160? Personnally I'd like to see GGG unify, but if the WBC pull some **** to give Canelo a pass in September then GGG is out of options and needs to move up. In which case DeGale is probably the best fighter in the division and at worst top 3. What is proving himself if not that? I consider myself a GGG fan as he's just the best damn thing to watch right now. a. True but you can't blame GGG for that, the guy is humble. Same with Angel/Garcia, Gallagher/Quigg, etc. b. That was a foolish statement. c. They've tried their hardest to unify at 160 so you can't knock them for that. If the fights don't happen this year then he should move up. d. Ward is favourite, but I don't think the fight will ever happen.
Yes, BJ got pushed into a corner, by a million Pikeys, undoubtebly going "Bee-Le, eets tree meelion pounds, why yee wunt tek the fight ya ****a aaw ya yella?.." And he got pressured into looking stupid, but he was quite honest after the Lee fight, "I'm not ready." Golovkin quite obviously wants no part of Ward. And generally I don't think a guy should be under any pressure to move up, but his trainer said "he would fight anyone from 154-168." That's point blank and undisputable. Then Loeffler offered Ward a weight he knew he couldn't make. This also cannot be disputed. He also offered other guys, BIGGER than Ward, fights at 168. Again, not my opinion, fact.
Without meaning to be insulting to you, as a fan of the sport as opposed to a fan on any individual fighter, this is a classic example of the phrase "if you repeat the same nonsense often enough, people start to believe it". Regardless of what may or may not have been discussed between the camps of Golovkin and Froch (I am not aware of any serious negotiations regarding a Chavez fight at 168) or the latest tabloid rumours surrounding Degale (which are likely to be nonsense) the facts are this: 1) Ward made a tentative approach to team GGG when the Lemieux fight was about to be signed to explore the possibility of a fight at a later date at his weight and in his country. In other words a fight with the dice loaded on his favour. As per the super six, where he was the only fighter to have every fight on home turn and the Dawson fight where Dawson came down to 168 and Paul Smith fight where Smith went up to 172. No problem with that. Ward is entitled to make a proposal. 2 Team Golovkin made a counter proposal of a fight at 164, where neither fighter would have a significant advantage and which would put the fight on more of a level playing field. 3. Team award turn their noses up at this and the discussions go no further. In other words, Golovkin's proposal consisted of a fight on a level playing field whilst Ward's proposal consisted of a fight with the deck stacked in his favour. Neither was willing to budge further and therefore the negotiations never got any further. However, Golovkin was willing to compromise to make the bout, Ward wasn't. The comment about Golovkin supposedly ducking Ward is therefore clearly nonsense propagated by half a dozen Ward fanboys/Golovkin heaters who have it ingrained in their brains based on past history that Ward is automatically entitled to have the deck stacked in his favour for any fight he takes part in and that anyone seeking a level playing field must be ducking him. Whilst you are a relatively new boxing fan you seem a reasonably intelligent sort. As a bit of advice don't set too much store by haters who clearly have an agenda to push. It tends to obstruct rational thinking.
Well genius....because when ward said he wanted to fight ggg and reached out to k2 he had never fought above 168......is that so hard to understand ?
Ward is 2 divisions above Golovkin, how did Golovkin duck him? so you're saying Mayweather ducked Ward too, when Ward said he'd go to 160 for him?
What part don't u understand? Ward tried to fight ggg before he fought Paul smith.......before ward fought smith his fights were at the 168 limit....which is 1 division above 160.., just onee...not 2........now currently ward is a lhw .....ur just thick in the head or u don't understand that ward tried to get a fight with ggg many months ago.....we're not talking like ggg is ducking ward right now like today u idiot Mayweather can't duck a guy at 160 when he's never entertained the idea of fighting there........ggg has chased fights at 168 and might be right now currently .....floyd has never tried to make a 160 fight and him fighting ward was just pure fantasy talk......not realistic......even if by some miracle ward could have made 160 floyd would never take that fight.....Bernard said he d do it too but it was unrealistic fantasy and just talk.......ggg/ward was an actual realistic and feasible fight Now please don't respond with anymore idiotic drivel.......this is the end of this...., you have been informed .....there is no response u can type which will refute what I just said so don't bother ....,, we are done here
Ward called GGG out when the Lemieux fight was about to be set, great timing Ward said he would do 160 for Mayweather, that was also fantasy talk like Bernard? GGG said only money fights at 168, which included Froch, Chavez Ward fight= not a money fight :hi:
I'll entertain u one more time..... In our situation u are comparing floyd and ggg in the same position Ggg has tried to make two fights at 168....has mentioned 168 publicly.....and now be trying to make a fight at 168 with degale Floyd has never done that with 160....never dabbled in it or mentioned it ......it's pretty simple to understand......it was other guys saying they'd meet him somewhere that floyd will never go in the first place......it was pure fantasy by ward and nard so they could mention the king of the sport Ward didn't cal out ggg after lemieux was signed ....that's some stuff the ggg fan boys have created so they feel better about the blatant duck....they'll say anything to make ggg look bulletproof....these losers will anything to stick up for their hero..., they're just like pac fans......I mean they were pac fans A ward fight would make ggg more money than any other fight he's had.....including a potential fight with degale U are actualy one of the top 3 worst posters here...and that's saying something....u have to try real hard to reach that level of idiocy....so congrats I guess.....hard work rewarded
no Ward started calling GGG out when it was made public GGG-Lemieux was in the works GGG said "168= only money fights" Froch, Degale = money fights in the UK Chavez Jr= money fight in LV/Texas Ward= NOT A MONEY fight is it this difficult to understand? GGG would only go to 168 for a big money fight, worth the risk of possibly draining himself if he decided to go back to 160 Froch, Degale, Chavez, even Abraham in Germany, offered a big payday for that kind of risk bulking up to 168 and then going back down for Ward is not worth the risk money wise I cannot possibly make this any simpler if you follow boxing, then you should know that boxing is (unfortunately) a smart business first
DeGale is not a big money fight....repeat .....not a big money fight Could have made more fighting ward on hbo in think he states and earned more credibility in doing so If unifying was so important he should stay there and check out this canelo thing and wait to see how that works out......instead he's trying to move up for degale because degale isn't special like ward.....like he fights degale and Canelo becomes available I guarantee he'll have no problem getting back to 160 tho right? And I love how ur all about smart business now....when guys like floyd and cotto were making smart business decisions they were "pansies".....now it's all business U guys are a joke
