"Apparently willing" is not the same as actually fighting. Golovkin is not obligated to fight anyone at 168. There is no duck.
"That statement was made" That's really the important part there. And Ward has never had a fight at 175. Not once,
GGG offered Ward a catchweight at 164 and he refused. Its completely fair to meet half way, if anything its Ward that looks like the duck for not wanting a fair fight. Ward isn't the other fighters, GGG doesn't want to give him that big of an advantage and go all the way up, and that is completely fine if you're not delusional.
the fact that he needs a cw, for a guy who hadnt previously fought above 168, is all you need to know about how he feels about his chances against ward....he isnt going to ask degale for one...wasnt gonna ask froch and chavez for one those guys arent special...and ward is...hes afraid of a special fighter who is the same size or bigger.... saying "164" was a surefire way to make sure the fight was dead before they even had a chance to talk about it
nope...but k2 floated that out there to the media...that theyd be willing to talk maybe if it ward was willing to do 164...which....like ive said...was a surefire way to nip it in the bud.....ward knew right then they werent serious we know there was never an official offer you halfwit.....because the minute they said 164 everyone knew they werent even gonna try or listen to ward
No, he didn't duck Ward. As far as fighting anyone at 154-168, ok, well does that mean at any weight and contractual arrangement? Of course not. Most adults understand that. Let's go through a basic history. 1. GGG's team publicly offered Ward a match at 164. 2. Ward did not respond. 3. Ward instead respectfully asked them to not speak about this situation or himself publicly, as obviously he has been away from boxing for some time and possibly is not ready for such a major match yet. 4. Ward did not offer anything in return. 5. After GGG had already announced a PPV match against David Lemeiux, Ward offered him a match at 164, with a 50/50 split, and did exactly what he promised against with a public shaming campaign. 6. GGG and Ward both stated that it would be possibly a year before the match took place. 7. GGG's team informed Ward that their plan is to begin a PPV campaign, unify the middleweight titles, and then set up the fight with Ward. Ok, let's try to think about this logically for a few sec. GGG was beginning a move towards PPV and selling out massive stadiums, Ward cannot sell out small stadiums in his hometown. GGG was moving towards unifying the middleweight titles in a historic move. This would place his status, historical standing, and earning power at a vastly different level by the time that they eventually fight. Ward has been inactive and his great matches were now years in the rear view mirror. He also had not announced his intentions of fighting in the light-heavyweight division yet. Obviously his earning power will be greatly exceeding Ward by the time that their fight would be finalized. Why would anyone agree to a contract that would severely undercut his earning potential and in fact give int to Ward's demand for a 50/50 split? It makes little to no sense and anyone like myself, who has a business degree as well as a business would understand. Not only did this not make even an ounce of sense to take the contractual arrangement, but also GGG' team did not duck Ward. Instead they told him that the contract was bogus and they should both follow the described path and arrange a contract as the fight comes to fruition, and the split can be properly assertained. Common sense. There was no ducking by either side.
Neither ggg or ward truly ducked each other. They've never once fought in the same division and both offered the other fights on their own terms. You clowns that troll ducked every day all day have less know than most fans, true fans that is. Both teams have been straight forward with their goals and what it would take to get the fight done now. Facts, ggg fights at 160, he doesn't cut weight to fight at 160, he comes in 157 to tops 159. Ward used to fight at 168, I'm starting to believe ward truly had to move to lhw due to being out of camps for so long. Ggg is nowhere near ready to move up. Team ggg offered 164 and ggg was going to fight that at whatever he usually comes in at, possibly a couple lbs more but not 164, ward offered 168, ward probably could've got back to 168 buy not 164. If ggg accepted 168, ward would've dwarfed him come fight night, not something ggg would've been happy about, since ward was the best smw since Calzaghe. Most of you children don't even know what a duck is. It's telling that ward is considering fighting at lhw, that's telling me he can't make 168 comfortably any longer. If they were in the same division, they'd have to fight each other, not only because people would be calling for it, but because ggg wants to unify 160 and break that streak which he will do very soon, and ward would've been a fighter at me he'd have to take on to accomplish his goals. That's how one could've ducked the other, not when they're currently 2 (TWO) divisions apart. We need a tool on the Internet that tests people's IQ points and their common sense level. We would rid the Internet world of most that's their goal is to mess up others experiences.
That was exactly my point. They were miles apart at the time of the proposed fight and both acknowledged that and had different plans with a proposed fight far down the line. We're all supposed to take the bait and choose one side or the other for absurd reasoning. Why? They're both great boxers and deserve respect.
People pretend interviews are binding when it suits them. Kind of like how some didn't want to admit that Chad Dawson's team screwed him by accepting a terrible deal to fight Ward because "Chad said 168 in an interview". Or like when GGG said "I'll fight anyone from 154-168".....in 2012. It didn't matter that he clarified it in 2014 saying he'd only make the move for a big PPV fight. No, what got said in 2012 goes
This was stated publicly months and months before the Lemieux match on July 7-8th by Tom Loeffler. Loeffler: "GGG would fight Ward on a 50-50 basis at 164..." GGG is now clearly the A side yet Ward still would want to dictate terms, which makes no sense, Loeffler said. GGG would fight Ward on a 50-50 basis, the best 160-pounder versus the best 168-pounder (at) 164 (and) a 50-50 split on all proceeds. But it seems like Ward needs more tune-up fights. Ward then directed them to please cease talking about it publicly. This is not a shot at Ward, as he had been inactive with injuries and promotional issues. BOTH fighters have publicly stated that they would fight different guys at different weights, and under different circumstances, but for whatever reason have not made this match-up yet. It seems fairly simple to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1btc3jYeMUY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Naap36F_2gM They were speaking privately and acknowledged that, wisely, Ward wanted tune up fights since he has been inactive, and also GGG wanted to pursue unifying the division prior to fighting Ward.
When people make these statements, they aren't said without any respect for details or contractual arrangements contained within. To not understand that is kind of humorous. They wanted the Froch fight simply because of how much money they would make. It's a business move, just like Floyd wisely did, and look at him now taking baths in money.
if carl froch were andre ward ...with wards skills and ability...like if you literally gave andre ward carl frochs fanbase and appeal....ggg wouldnt have taken the fight thats just reality....froch would have made ggg some money...but he was also at the end of it and nearing retirement.......a prime andre ward could hold the same appeal as froch did and ggg wouldnt have tried to make it ward would still have been gggs biggest payday
GGG payday vs Froch >>>> GGG payday vs Ward remember, Roc Nation pay Ward $2 mil per and offer the opponent 300K GGG vs Froch in England would be on HBO, PPV in UK plus in front of 30K fans simple math
you arent too bright...you missed the obvious point if andre ward(his ability+skillset+rep) had frochs appeal and ability to sell.....ggg still wouldnt take the fight froch was a tough fighter...a good one....but he is flawed....and he is up there in age was a bit worn...near retirement same with chavez...hes flawed...heavily.... i was saying that ward could bring the same appeal as those guy and ggg still wouldnt want that fight...b.ecause ward has skills...hes special....the other guys arent...and they were ripe for the picking ggg likes the smaller guys, the b- level mw's, or ripe and flawed bigger guys.....you potentially match him with a special, elite, prime fighter in ward and he wouldnt take it talking to you is like talking to my 4 year old goddaughter
