If GGG "ducked" anyone, it would be Andre Ward maybe, before SOG went up to light heavyweight. If GGG really wanted to prove PFP #1 greatness, he would have tried to secure a catchweight 165lb fight vs Ward, even though he most likely would have lost. He didn't HAVE to fight SOG but he COULD have.

Not a terrible "duck" by any means but one you can hold that a little bit against GGG, I guess. Even though we never really know what goes on behind closed doors.

 

Golovkin offered the catchweight of 164. Its well documented that Ward refused it because he wanted Golovkin to come up to his weight (in addition to the fight being in the states with four US officials and getting half the money despite being the lesser attraction).
