"I saw Canelo as much bigger, much stronger...different power. He's a middleweight and Miguel is not a middleweight," Golovkin told HBO.

Over at SCENE if you would like to read.

Well WTF. If GGG fought Cotto it would be the same sized Cotto.:rofl All of you defenders have some damage control to do because your boy stays contradicting himself. He was eager to beat up Cotto too from what I remember, he wasn't too small when he was calling him out.

the man is being honest. He never said Cotto was his size. He said "I want that belt, give it to me or fight me for it, but I am getting it".

It's not like he said something shocking. That being said, Cotto did hold the belt and he did beat Martinez/Geale so there's nothing wrong with wanting to fight him at the time, if he was chasing Cotto now, that'd raise my eyebrows..

GGG just has this obsession with getting all the belts. Cotto had the belt and the most important one, the lineal title.

Now we all know belts are completely, utterly worthless is today's ****ed up alphabet **** up masterpiece.

But for some reason he wants them anyways.

He was not obsessed enough to want to fight Mayweather at 154, Chavez and Froch at 168, but he turned into "schmegal" when Ward wanted that ass at 168 he suddenly wanted to get the WBC belt. Phony. He is a paper chaser just like every one else.

he just said it like it is.
Cotto is a light MW that dragged people down to fight for the full MW belt.
Canelo is a MW that somehow rehydrates to the LHW limit after coming in at 155.

. . . Cotto was supposed to be the Middleweight Champion

In order to defend that title you should be required to:

1, Defend it in the ring in a boxing match (eg you can't instead defend it in a Spelling B)
    2. Defend against an opponent limited by divisions limit not one that you impose.

He's just stating the obvious. It was clear that Canelo has a size advantage.

I doubt GGG cares if people criticize him for beating smaller opponents, as Cotto would have been it GGG fought him. He wants the money and exposure.

It's nothing new for MW champs to wish to fight bigger name fighters who are smaller and I highly doubt that they care all that much that some fans view it as picking on smaller guys.

Well why was your boy Ward wanting to fight a career middleweight in Golovkin?

Plus he drags a natural 160lb fighter who isn't even top 3 in his country up 2 divisions for a fight.

At least Cotto was fighting at middleweight.

It's true. It's literally the only reason why Canelo was able to win. If Cotto was the bigger guy, he would have won this.

I love how the guy who penned the article just watched The Fight Game and saw Golovkin's interview with Michelle Beadle, where he makes this statement, then goes on to post an article about it. How about at least putting in some wording relating to The Fight Game interview, FFS.

I don't care if Cotto is undersized he had the WBC belt @ 160 and Golovkin was his mandatory.

Same thing with Canelo. If he or his Team is afraid to fight a real middleweight he could easily drop the belt
