As a Golovkin fan I’d like him to retire, I don’t really have a desire to watch an old fighter start losing to less talented opponents.
What a great scrap from both of them, loved it. I know he won’t, but would really like GGG to retire now.
GGG breaks Murata down in the 9th - drops Murata and Muratas team throw in the towel. I had murata winning the first 4 rounds and GGG won every round from the 5th onwards. I thought GGG desevered to win both fights against Canelo. I wanted to see a Trilogy fight but after that showing GGG isn't the fighter he used to be and Canelo stops him now.
Solid summary and I have to agree. I nearly jumped the gun in the early rounds and was about to declare GGG a shot fighter. Legs looked heavy, eating punches for fun, blowing hard. Then he found his groove and rolled back the years. Thing is with GGG now, I don't see any way he can hang with a prime Canelo, he eats too many punches now, has definitely lost a step, and the gastank seems suspect. Canelo too young too fit. I agree Canelo stops GGG if they have a trilogy now.
GGG is a boxing legend and time to go after what was a good fight with a good win. An absolute warrior.
I had Murata 3-1 after 4 tbf. GGG got the job done but looked weak to the body and his feet have slowed down. A third Canelo fight would be a wide Canelo UD similar to the Callum Smith fight I reckon.
Watching a load of Japanese 12 year olds batter each other on the undercard is a good way to spend a Saturday morning too. Much better than going to do the weekly shop with the missus.
Know he won’t but hope retires on this high now. No desire to see a 3rd Canelo fight, he’s past his best and he’s already won one at least
We agree on that and the first fight in my opinion was a robbery. As boxing fans surely none of us want to see a shadow of his former self broken down to the body and stopped by the juicing cheater.
