Golovkin: Fight w/ Ward would have to be at 164, IM A-Side (UCN Interview)

Team GGG has stated this is just a starting point in negotiations.

But wards team said they're not yet prepared to negotiate. Need more time.

Enzo at 170 then maybe sillakh at 169 @ ward will bankrupt ROC, then wards dream comes true when he signs with Haymon and feasts on Stevenson and Beterbiev leftovers.

 

Ward just fought a catchweight. I'm tired of seeing all of the Ward defending here. He is the Gennady haters only hope, and could do no wrong.

Ward needs to counter offer. Maybe make the fight at 165-166.

I don't think Ward wants the fight. He will be fighting another bum his next match.

 

He wasn't selling tickets or getting good ratings when he was active. How much he got paid by his promoter has no bearing on if he is the A-side or not. That is them being fools and paying a guy a guarantee who can't sell tickets or get ratings. Ward seems content to fight 'tune-ups' and ask for 3 million dollars for doing such.

Since he has been fighting at 172 it makes much more sense for Ward to move up and fight Kovalev instead they are both with HBO so the fight would be easy to make.

 

He's actually in a lesser negotiating standpoint to bring Kovalev down to 172 than he is to bring GGG up to 168.

He will fight Brian Vera at 172 next on OWN.

And like his dikriders know, hell get 2 mil and get 250k who accidentally dvrd it thinking it was a new episode of hoarders.

 

i think what he means is that ward now is light heavy so he feels 164 would be fair.

 

If dawson had no problem with making 168 so should Ward.

 

GGG is the A side.Ward is just basically commishioned to fight.

 

I think people are missing the point with this, despite Wards lack of current popularity they still say everything an even split.

This is a negotiating position.

He did also say 168 a possibility, if you watch and actually listen.

If Ward wants to drag Golovkin all the way up to 168, he has to give some on the fight terms. If he wants everything even, then both give up evenly on weight as well.

Mind you, I dont think the fight should happen at 164. But GGG is not throwing out "A-side" terms here. He is throwing out perfectly even 50/50 terms, and I think despite our distaste for catchweights this fact should be noted.

I never said he was ducking anyone, but it's obvious he doesn't want to fight Ward. If he's such a bigger draw than Ward, then why is he asking for 50/50? Ward is talking about possibly going to 175. It's not a coincidence that now Golovkin's side is talking about a CW. They know damn well Ward would never go for that. So what do you call it when someone throws out an offer that would never be accepted?

 

Weren't a lot of Floyd fans saying Floyd can dictate weight because he's the A side back in 2013?

 

I don't think Golovkin and his team want it either to be honest. I think they have everyone fooled because you know how it goes... the power puncher is never accused of ducking :nut

 

You can't run your mouth and say you'll fight anyone at 168 and then start throwing out CWs. They just tried to fight Froch at 168. They have no interest in fighting Ward and are throwing out this nonsense to save face.

 

The difference is that Floyd actually is an A side. Throwing out a CW against Canelo wasn't gonna stop that fight from happening. Ward would never agree to a CW against Golovkin. You gotta ask why Golovkin's side would throw out a stipulation that Ward would never agree to if they really want that fight.

 

ROC is in a unique position to save Cottos MW title.
That's all they gotta do is approach HBO executives and k2 & guarantee GGG $8 mil and 60/40 of the PPV with a rehydration clause of 180 & VADA TESTING.
GGG will leave the MW division and build his PPV legacy off the beating down of WARD.

However....Cotto have to somehow survive Canelo before ROC can even risk a counter.
So....in the meantime, GGG vs BHOP and ward vs caperello, same card, more build up, and so long as Cotto beats Canelo, then GGG will fight Ward said d spare Cotto life.
