I'm pretty sure if you know who Golovkin is you know who Ward is. Casual fans dont know who Golovkin is either. They only know May/Pac.

boxing fans the world over would love to see Golovkin finally in a perceived (roughly) 50/50 fight and Ward could be sold as that with his gold medal, super 6 wins and weight advantage. hell, they'd like to see him in a 70/30 fight.

HOWEVER, Ward isn't looking to get his bell cracked and Golovkin is looking to be undisputed middleweight champion or be paid an ungodly amount of money and prestige to mess with his weight. so, this fight isn't happening any time soon.

Does anyone else think Golovkin is a H2H beast?

Stubhub Center, Cali. Ward's home state. Golovkin more than doubles Ward's attendance number, at 9100+ vs 4518.

I'd say a fair number of casuals know Golovkin because of ESPN being so high on him, and that very, very few casuals remember Ward's December 2011 moment.

mexico is well aware of him, so is puerto rico since cotto became a puppet mw champ, europe knows him real well, so does russia and japan. i'd agree many of the casual american fans don't know him.

he's a non-factor there also, almost as boring as his fighting in the ring.

Didn't ward/rodriguez have like 1.2m viewers? That was in 2013, who cares about attendance, casual fans dont attend fights, it's about viewership, and they're on par.

So you're saying those Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, and Europeans don't know Ward right.

Who cares about attendance? Casuals don't attend fights? Now you're just trolling.

Of course it was 9100+ hardcore fans from the Bay area who attended Golovkin-Rubio, not Mexican American casuals. What was I thinking..........

Good luck to Ward with 2015 viewership figures for a Truax or Sartison fight... since that's who he tried to get to fight him on HBO instead of E-Rod.

i'd say roughly half of boxing fans outside of the united states don't know or only vaguely remember Ward and the other half don't care. and if you took a poll of who people would rather see fight, Ward or Golovkin, Triple G would win in a landslide, including oakland, california.

LOL, you think I'm trolling because I'm right huh. Nice try. The only reason you brought up attendance numbers is because it's stronger for your argument, of course you leave out viewership numbers right? Why don't we add up total viewers(attendance+tv viewership), the numbers are practically identical. You didn't expect me to bring up total viewers which is why you only mentioned "attendance". Also you have to take in count that Rubio is Mexican and is trained under Robert Garcia who is popular in California, no one knows Rodriguez yet they still pulled the same numbers. Check mate.

When will it ever make sense?

Andre Ward might be out of the game but when he fights again after a tune up then i think Golovkin should fight him.

By the time he comes back Golovkin may have cleaned out the middleweight division.

He then has Andre Ward at super middle. Froch might be retiring if he doesn't get the Chavez Jr fight.
