Much is being said about the size advantage Froch will have over GGG, and on one hand it is true - Froch is 2.5" taller and has a longer reach. What isn't being mentioned is that they share the same weight on fight night. Froch is a very slender man and has mentioned many times that he really doesn't cut more than a few pounds for weigh-ins. His fight night weight is about 172. Golovkin carries a wider frame with broad shoulders and a deeper chest, his fight night weight is also about 172, but that is after rehydrating up from 160lbs! Given that this fight would take place at 168, Golovkin may come in 175-180 because he will not have had to shed an additional 8lbs. When you hear the big guys talk about sparring GGG, and they mention his emmense power, you have to realize this is mid camp when GGG is weighing in around 175lb. When Froch meets GGG, he won't be the bigger man, and GGG is going to be hitting harder than ever. There are many other aspects to this fight, but Froch being the bigger man is a fallacy.
Froch deserves respect for all the challenges he's taken on in his career, but his fire is gone. He wants no part of GGG, especially as a retirement fight. If the fight were made, then it's a must watch.
:good he lookslike he needs to work on fitness to me also...he likes to fight at his own pace and i think GGG is very beatable, punch power can only work for so long...
For the most part this thread is a parade of simpletons. TS did make some excellent and cogent points.
Yeah I know I already wrote this in another thread, but I don't think that Golovkin will break his habit for this fight, he'll fight around 170 as usual. I wouldn't even be surprised if he weighs in only slightly over 160. I think he won't break his routine so that he doesn't get into trouble going back to 160 after a potential Froch fight.
