It's only the original poster who is spouting nonsense about that.

There are sensible 3G fans who wouldn't dream of calling him GOAT @160.

Well for the record I rate Monzon as the greatest at 160, the perfect fighting machine.

But neither Hagler or Monzon are gigantic punchers, throw into the mix they would be fighting a fighter who hasn't even been shook in over 400 fights and lesser fighters have taken them the distance or into the later rounds and we can conclude that your post is as usual.....Full of dog ****.

    It doesn't justify the statements.

    I don't believe he would K.O. Marvin.

I'm not a part of his deluded fan base.

Don't group all of his fans in together.

If you're referring to me, I didn't answer because I went to bed.

Again, I'm not a part of his deluded fan base.

    What are you talking about?

    How am I a fool?

    Everyone's circumstances are different.

He has goals to obtain all of the belts. He also has mandatory obligations, and his mandatory against Canelo is secured.

He doesn't have to do things in a set order, he just has to keep moving a step closer to where he wants to finish.

He let Canelo and Cotto sign to fight each other, knowing that the winner had to fight him. In the meantime he added another belt to his collection. He now has 2 of the 4 belts. Then Canelo wanted to fight Khan. So he stepped aside again, got paid and got his mandatory out of the way. Yes, he could have tried to block the Khan fight from happening. But it wouldn't have made much of a difference, because he'd still have had to have taken his mandatory afterwards. As it stands, he's in a pretty good position. Because he has 2 belts and he's still the mandatory for the lineal title.

I can understand the frustration, but he's moving in the right direction.

You have to look at the bigger picture.

If stepping aside hadn't have been in his best interests, he wouldn't have done it.

the importance of having all 4 paper trinkets is the problem.....it means "SQUAT"....

andre ward was universally recognized as the man at 168...unquestioned.....he didnt need that IBF belt for anything.....

"fight andre ward in march/april of 2016? ...sorry cant do .....i have a dream of collecting all 4 alphabet belts and i have this very important ibf mandatory against maybe the 17th best mw in the world...so...sorry cant do it...maybe in the future tho"!!!

chasing all 4 paper trinkets is some pointless, convenient, dream of his designed to make sure he can cherrypick his spots when he wants

    Great.

Let's just hope that you're not a father to anyone.

Life can be cruel, but nobody would deserve that.

I can assure you that if you were less biased and more objective, we could have a great debate.

Now GG obtaining all of those belts might mean SQUAT to you, but it doesn't to him. He's a professional fighter with goals. He's a 5'10 MW, with a 70" reach. He's not killing himself to make weight. He's not bursting at the seams. He's a MW. He's a MW fighting in a prestigious division and he wants to be the undisputed champ. Now who are you to criticise that? You're not in his shoes. Just leave him to do what he wants, hope that he eventually moves up, and then assess his career when he retires.

Yes, I understand why you call them trinkets. But unfortunately that's boxing today. Boxing has been ruined with 17 weight classes, 4 main organisations, and guys weighing in the day before the fights and then rehydrating by silly amounts. We've got Super champions, Silver champions, Regular Champions, Interim Champions. It's a complete mess. But GG isn't any different to anyone else.

Let's look at the SMW division:

James DeGale is one of my favourite fighters. Like GG, he too wants to obtain all of the belts in the division. Now take a look at who's got the belts and how they obtained them. He beat Andre Dirrell to win the vacant IBF title that Carl Froch had relinquished when he retired. Felix Sturm is now the WBA champ after beating Fedor Chudinov in a rematch. Chudinov became the champ after he'd beat Sturm the first time to win Froch's other vacant title. Then we have Badou Jack who's the WBC champ. He beat Anthony Dirrell who beat Sakio Bika. Bika's never had one noteworthy win in his career and only won the belt because it was vacant. Gilberto Ramirez has the WBO.

If James DeGale unifies, are you going to rubbish the achievment and say it doesn't mean SQUAT?

Now we can do this for every division in boxing.

Look how Anthony Joshua has just obtained his belt? Is he really the IBF champ?

Deontay Wilder is the WBC champ. He's done nothing. All he did was beat Stiverne, who'd won the vacant title from a bout with Chris Arreola.

As boxing fans, we can't do anything about it.

Regarding Ward, once again, nothing official ever took place and he's just had 2 tune ups due to inactivity.

Now if you comeback with something sensible and objective, we can continue. But it's totally unjust to criticise what GG's doing, when he's only doing what DeGale and every other champ in boxing is doing.
