"Golovkin has to move up" -wrong. Lemme cut you off there. He actually doesn't, ever.

He also turned pro at 15yo. Golovkin was 24.

When he was 15, GGG fought at light welter in the amateurs.

Yeah I'd hate to think of moparfan doing that to one of my threads. But he probably already has....several times.:verysad:barf

Not sure if this has already been said but that worst thing that happened to GGG resume wise is Pirog getting injured. He really looked like he was that elite level middleweight we'd all be looking for.

Could he have beaten Golvokin? Very possibly.

That's cool, but he's fought as a MW his whole career. Bradley fought at 166 in the AMs, but fought in the pros more to his actual size and weight because he was able to cut weight comfortably.:deal

Its a pity Gennady Kovalev never turned pro, could you imagine the hatred he'd be getting right now?

Agreed!! That would have been the closest he could have come to gaining some "Hagleresque" legitimacy. Not that Pirog was proven to be a Hearns level guy by 2012 or anything, but it was the closest GGG could have come to having a 'destined rival' (and perhaps met his match) in his own division for sure.

Indeed. Slick with power. That could have been a great rivalry. It's a real shame that we missed out on that match up.

...or Maxim Golovkin. If the MW division is so weak, imagine they were diluting it between two brothers (apologies to Jermell and Jermall in case nobody in your circle of grinning sycophants like the Watson twins or anybody has burst your bubble about that fact that co-reigning as paper champs in a weak 154lb division isn't that special )? :rofl It would be the K2 hate magnified x1,000.
