"Golovkin has to move up" -wrong. Lemme cut you off there. He actually doesn't, ever.

...but we all know what a mismatch that really is. Ostensibly the goal in having Golovkin move up is for him to be challenged, right? Well, those super middleweight champs are way more of a challenge than Canelo would be (albeit lesser names, and probably would draw way less money) - but in turn none of them are bigger challenges necessarily than some of the guys he is yet to face @ MW.

A mismatch based on what IB? WHO has GGG beaten that possesses the skills and experience of a Canelo Alvarez? He has to clear Canelo first before I want him to move up.

Nobody perhaps but this is still a flat-footed guy who got lit up early on by Amir Khan (who is fast but not a great boxer), struggled early with Alfonso Gomez of all people before righting the ship and getting the stoppage (often forgotten nowadays), was badly hurt by Cotto's tiny older brother, and was made to look downright foolish and inept at times by the slickness of Trout and Lara. He is a good all-around fighter but he isn't some master boxer. Golovkin is probably the more skillful of the pair of them, in all honesty - as well as the bigger, stronger, more powerful guy with, in all likelihood, the much better chin.

    Muay Thai / MMA.

Staying around my athletic weight is best all round for me. Seeing GGG in that photo Mexi-box mentioned it seems that he is perfectly suited where he is which makes sense to me. GGG may move up in the future, entirely his decision.

Ok, we've known since the Floyd fight, that quick fighters give Canelo problems, but Canelo would be regarded as the faster fighter if/when he fought GGG, so he would have that advantage in his ****nal . And Gomez is very underrated and he fought Canelo at a time where he was still looked at as work in progress.

Cotto's brother had that one moment, then got dominated for the rest of the fight and got stopped. And Trout and Lara are great fighters in their own right, and rival GGG should want to fight them and try to make a point the way pac did over Floyd, as far as common opponents go.

And the last part of your post is pure speculation, as we really don't know how good GGG is, Honestly.:deal

That's why IB said "probably" :). GGG looks good so it's a bit more than just speculation, but admittedly not proven in the pros.

here is where you get stupid...you assumed I was talking only about you! as if no one else responded or posted in this thread

IB...usually you are pretty good...and reasonable...it seems you are softening and becoming one of "them"

You are missing IB point , there isnt any floyd in 168 to go after , there is a Degale , the 168 superstar is Degale , consider that.
If he beats him het gets so little credit ppl will forget he ever did it , nothing amazing will come out of going up to 168 right now , better off waiting for Canelo/Jacobs/BJS/Eubank and the rest of SWW to come to you. (better names that is).

His division sucks and his record sucks because of it. At 34 he has achieved next to nothing.

If ever there was a guy who needs to seek out bigger fights in other divisions , its GGG.

He has an obligation to the sport not to fight bum after bum. Of course there's nothing wrong with staying at MW for the rest of his life , but when he has legions of people shouting his greatness from the root tops , you expect him live up to that reputation.

the first red flag I saw in this thread is "well sanchez said 168 but did lil g himself say it"...I mean...when that is said you can see the desperation and clutching

sanchez and loeffler have both said...and they are both extensions of lil g...if it was just sanchez saying it might be one thing....both guys saying it and loeffler constantly floating 168 names solidifies it

id have no problem with lil g staying at 160...if he was gonna reel off saunders, eubank, Jacobs etc in succession.....why demand that? because ive had enough of his bum fights......most guys I could let get away with some light touches in between...but ive had enough of his light touches....if he can reel off 4 guys in a row that are decent im willing to let it slide

but if he cant...then he needs to consider good 168 guys in place of bum 160 mandos...that act is tired....

yet they don't understand they are setting a double standard

like ward said "if I said anyone at 175 and then went there, with his resume, and asked 171 for kovalev and ducked the fight theyd kill me for it"

but this guy gets a pass....Floyd gets hammered daily here still...because Justin bieber punched a guy...but lil g gets a pass for fighting dom wade...lol

That's good enough for you, but what about fighters like Pacquaio who went for it and was undersized against every natural WW he was up against?
