"Golovkin has to move up" -wrong. Lemme cut you off there. He actually doesn't, ever.

wow...14pages in 6 hours. IB hit a nerve, didn't he?

Marvelous Marvin Hagler is a HOF boxer, very few intelligent boxing fans have ever criticized his ability. Fought at 160 in all his big fights. Never "moved up".

GGG doesn't have to fight at any weight other than 160 IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO. If he's comfortable with that, then that's ok with me. The man isn't an idiot, he knows how much $$$ he can make fighting Ward or Kovalek at 168/175. If he decides to take a fight at a higher weight, fine, if not, that's fine as well.

We might see him dragged into some championship rounds with a new "next big thing fighter" but the fights still available for him will be fun to watch as he proves he is the best at this weight class:thumbsup

Keep in mind GGG is no young man so to leave prior to cleaning this out would be more risk for the same reward:roll:

Once he cleans this up he might decide to move up but like you said he does not have to and yes it might bring us more excitement but again he takes the risk and for what :huh

I hope we do get to see him tested soon as he is still fun to watch:bbb

it's his prerogative. if his division is like the fab 4 then he doesn't need to, business wise and legacy wise. the thing is it is not. the money and legacy is with ward and kovalev which requires moving up. the fans like having an accomplished atg every time possible.

Its just one weight ffs. Everybody fluctuates between a weight or two. Its not a big deal , but it reeks of Glovkin not wanting any guy to have an advantage over him.

He can stay at 160 his whole career if he likes. But when it's all said an done and his legacy has a lot of question marks and he gets the Kostya Tyszu treatment, another guy who stayed in a dead division and didn't dare to be great then so be it. HOF level but not a true ATG.

    pretty much

evne though lil g has floated the names of at least 5 or 6 168lb guys at one point or another....

the ole bait and switch..."hey guys I might fight this guy...pay attention to me...u know him"...and then boom "well I have obligations these belts are really important to me even though most recognize me as the best at 160 anyway with our without them"

No fighter HAS to move up but GGG is the only fighter fans cry about when asked to move up Ward had to move up to 175 they want Crawford to move to WW guys like Canelo Lara,Charlos have move up to 160, Gonzalaz has yo move up for Inoue, lomachenko had to move up but you say GGGs name and its non stop crying to make it worse others have better comp to face. are people that desperate that they will blatantly flip on stances they take on more accomplished guys to give Gennandy a pass.
