"Golovkin has to move up" -wrong. Lemme cut you off there. He actually doesn't, ever.

Sure. And an upset is always possible. But, the odds are heavily in GGGs favor based on the history of both guys. It's just a weak division, right now. Jacobs and BJS should fight, so this could be narrowed down to the 2 best guys at MW.

I can get behind that, if only to establish a clear #2 for GGG to face in order to establish new (and clear) lineage.

If he moves up and faces the winner of DeGale-Jack for lineage at 168, fine...But if he really wants to be undisputed, the guys he has to face are at least better than most of the opponents he's faced to this point.

GG has been all his pro career at 160 and has NOT fought a top elite fighter all those year's hes been there so he has to move up to at least fight Ramirez cuz the only fighter that is willing to fight GG at 160 is Lara and GG Cleary wants nothing! But if your ok for him to stay there and keep fighting bum after bum for a few more year's than pray he stays there 😎

I remember coming here as a lurker years ago and there was a lot of MW hype going on. Then GGG came along and mopped the floor with a few of them and it changed everyone's perspective. It's hard to respect this division because GGG is just to good, it's a shame the other MW's get zero respect.

So is SMW, though...arguably to an even greater extent.

Well...it's a bit better. The thing with SMW is you have a lot of guys at about the same level....good not great. So, it makes for a lot of competitive matchups.

Not a lot. You have like three. Ramírez, DeGale, Jack. They are the direct equivalent of the good but not great trio of Saunders, Eubank, Jacobs. I'm not sure any of the latter trio couldn't move up and hold their own with any of the former.

Put it this way: the Chudinov brothers are equally mediocre. One is a top 5 SMW. The other is barely (maybe) top 15 @ MW.

Those are the standouts at SMW. But, I think you have to throw the Direll brothers in there at tier 2. I don't know if Saunders, Eubank or Jacobs would necessarily get past either of them.

I'd say Fedor's probably a level above Dmitry, IB. I don't see Mendy being able to hold the SMW to a draw.
