I think my OP spelled out pretty clearly that he can make a full-time job of cleaning out MW until he's too old to conceivably be anywhere near his prime anymore. By whenever he is finished dealing with the current specks & splotches on the window pane (Álvarez, Jacobs, Saunders, Eubank, Lee, HNN, Nightwolf) there will be new fresh smudges for him to keep squeegeeing. Rivalries with Khytrov, Murata and Derevyanchenko all could be very plausible by then. At this point we're closing in on end of the decade and Golovkin is pushing 40...without the division ever becoming "dead" or fully cleaned out, and that's even assuming he gets in there on a very aggressive thrice-a-year schedule (when it could, and in all likelihood will, be more like twice a year as he gets on in age)

    he doesnt...yer right

cause the one guy he did need to move up for he clearly ducked and will forever be known as a cowardly ducker just like canelo

but....why does he keep floating 168 names? i mean...froch and chavez i get...but thats old news....but his team were even mentioning hopkins a few months ago...they float the name of degale....and have even mentioned zurdo several times

you are right...there is a decent list of say maybe 3 or 4 good mw fights for him

the problem is jacobs and saunders WONT be next.....eubank could be but well have to see...and honestly i think eubank should wait a year or so...hes very green still imo

the thing is id rather see him fight one of those guys...jack or zurdo(i know hes not going near andre dirrell) rather than face another bum mw mando....its late in the game and he need to stop fighting bum/can mandos.....if that means going up for a fight or two then so be it

his people have floated the names of many 168lb fighters....and his trainer said hed be even better there...and loeffler has said "the idea would be to go up to 168 and then come back down which we think he can easily do" when mentioning 168 fights...which was one of many excuses his fanboys used for a duck of ward...."you want him to go up and then come back down for 160...thats going to be hell"....

3-4 right now. By the time he's done with them, if they agree to even tangle with him in the first place, and allowing for the fact that top fighters at this level of the sport only fight 2-3 times a year, and the fact that no boxer in history has a blockbuster match every single time out so we're threading in some tuneups and voluntaries here and there - by the time we're done with that, voila, it's a couple of years from now and there are HALF A DOZEN more very good MW fights for him as the new class starts to mature and rack up decent resumes and clamor for their shot.

Most of the people on this site the concept of new fresh faces becoming a force in the division is seemingly lost on them, Boxing is constantly evolving like that. They have no foresight whatsoever. I've been salivating over the thought of seeing Saunders, Derevyanchenko, Eubank Jr. and Khytrov face GGG for quite some time now. I must be the crazy odd man out.:conf

You know Leonard started as a WW and dared to be great by moving up and capturing the Super MW title and beating Lalonde at a CW to capture the LHW title. I don't see how GGG wouldn't be able to do the same. So did Hearns, but people want to say it's OK, stay at 160 because Hagler did it.:conf

    Quality trumps quantity

Old man Soliman trumps baby Lemieux, and Johnson is better than the rest. Then you have the other wins like Ayala, Campa, Biosse and Guy all pretty much a muchness with Rubio's other win's you have mentioned.

Hagler was a lot smaller than GGG and could easily spend his career at 154 today.

Does GGG have fights against P4P ATG's available to him?

    So what's better? :blood

Going up to clean out the very front-loaded 168lb division with DeGale, Jack, Sturm & Ramirez Sanchez instead of standing his ground to repel Saunders, Eubank, Lee, and Jacobs (and then preparing for the next wave of Khytrov, Murata, Derevyanchenko, Castano etc) proves...what, exactly? :huh

I frankly don't care if he ever moves up. People who bring weight jumpers also forget to mention that the said boxers started really early and at really light weights. Pac jumped 8 classes but he started as a starved teen.

I think Floyd moving past 140, Pac moving past 135 to name the usual suspects ruined the fun of their fights, as they went from knocking people out and looking spectacular to outpointing people via close but comfortable UDs. I don't think Genady will ever outgrow middleweight and he isn't a huge middleweight like Bernard, so I will give him as pass.

But he has to fight for the 4th title. Once all 4 belts are his, opposition will have to come.

 Yeah okay. So a guy with 13 losses and no incredibly significant win over anybody but Sturm, who Geale, Macklin and Murray basically beat is now better than a wrecking machine like Lemieux? yeah he's hard to look good against, but far from impossible to outbox.

I'd be really curious to see Lemieux vs. Soliman, actually.
