I don't, but it worth a try and risk, don't you think? If nobody is going to fight him and we're forced to see him fight guys in smaller weight classes, RETIRE.... It's better than doing what he's doing now.

Well, if you're suggesting that, you should probably suggest him to retire then.

I'm not sure that is true. Brook may not be ideal but he is a respected top welter (and large for the weight) and undefeated.

Historically credit IS given for beating an excellent fighter moving up from a division where they were dominant or at least very successful.

Tyson got credit for Spinks, George for Moorer, Leonard would have for Pryor (everyone demanded it) etc.

He is the only guy at HBO besides Canelo that making any money. GGG is literally holding HBO boxing together at this point. He may not have to move up, but he better pull a move outta the Bernard Hopkins handbooks and get some bigger name 147 & 154 to meet him or melt down to 155.

Exactly. Same reas on why people pushed for Mayweather to move to 154,they just wanted him to lose.

GGG comes in at 159 at the weigt in, which is a solid indication that he is fairly small at MW. He clocks in at 162 a month before the fight.

Btw, Ward looked big and we'll nourished at 175. Now that was a man that needed to move up.

This would all be fine and dandy if he would have never criticised Canelo, or never said Brook was too small. Now if he continually did this( fight WW's) especially after all he's said already, it only hurts his legacy imo. It's better to me at least to move up and beat guys who are percievably bigger than him, then to wait around for 160 pounders to man up, or for the next WW to call his name.

And If we really look at it, Tyson is in Brooks shoes with the size disadvantage, because most of the better heavyweights he fought were way bigger than him, so it's really not comparable to GGG picking on the smaller Guy, to me anyways.

And Moore was the heavyweight champion who proved himself to be a good heavyweight by beating The best at that time Holyfield! If Brook somehow beat Jacobs for example, (though Jacobs is no Holyfield) I'd see where you are getting at, but I can't say I entirely agree with you on that one.

Leonard would have gotten credit for Pryor, because they were only separated 7 pounds so that's realistic.:good

MW is a respected division, and 3g has respected titles in that division, their is no onus to move up. Perhaps if he wants to be an ATG then yes.

But no this is not a case of someone being in a weak division and defending an unwanted unknown IBO type title for a decade like for instance joe cowardzaghe did. He had to move up in order to be remembered for something ...though being rememberedfor facing 40something old legends , well thats arguably less than what he did at SMW.

to date 3g has never done something as cowardaghely as wait for legends to turn 40something. in fact now I tihnk about it, noone has ever done that in boxing hisotry except one welsh guy. thats joes claim to fame for being unique.

Moving up in weight only means anything if it's to beat an established champion or star. The only fighter that remotely meets that description at 168 is James Degale. Ergo, moving to 168 to fight anyone else, including Gilberto Ramirez till he's more established does nothing for Golovkin. Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders, Lara, Andrade, Derevyanchenko, there's plenty of opponents at 160 that will make for an outstanding cv for Golovkin.

I find it funny how some people still think the Ward ' offer ' to Golovkins team was solid

    It was flaky at best

Which is an apt description for Roc Nation as a boxing promoter as a whole

Sure he could be boring and stay at MW getting ducked and having uncompetitive fights. It would be better if he took the challenge of moving up though.

Most the fighters at 168 are really boring. Where do people want GGG to move up to ? Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury ?
Seriously, even 175 would be too much. So that leaves 168 and there's nothing there really.

People talk about Andre Ward but I don't think Ward is reliable enough to move up to make fights with, and I doubt Ward wants to be at 168 anyway.
