    “I want to punish him,” Golovkin said during a conference call, according to his translator. “I want to have a fight and punish him for all the bad things that he and his team have done – to size him down and put them in their place.”

    Sanchez is confident Golovkin will channel his emotions effectively while trying to make Alvarez pay for failing two performance-enhancing drug tests in February and causing their rematch, initially scheduled for May 5, to be canceled.

    “He’s not angry,” Sanchez said later during the conference call. “He’s got a purpose in the gym and he’s got a purpose of what he wants to do inside the ring. Canelo’s done some things that he feels he needs to pay for, and he’ll do that in the ring. In the gym, it’s just another day training in the gym. He’s the same guy that he was before. He trains hard. Just his mentality for this fight seems to be very, very focused on trying to punish Canelo, as he was when he fought [Curtis] Stevens. If you recall, when he fought Stevens, he was like that, too. He has the same mentality.”

    Could be true but probably just an attempt to hype the fight.

    Everyone was taken aback by the sadism Kovalev showed in the ring against Pascal the second time around, Golovkin is an Aries as well, when he says something like that, believe it. Aries tend to take a little too much glee in viciously torturing people they intensely dislike, occasionally a little too much. After all, I might have that same flaw on here.:oops:

    yeah he is bigger so he has a chance to come out successful. However, let's see what happens if he gives Canelo more chances to counter. I always thought he was too big for Canelo just on the size and Canelo was perfect for 154.

    I remember Kovalev threatening to end Ward's career. He hated Ward so bad. Those type of emotions mean nothing in the ring.

    Oh stfu you know GG didn't throw any body shots , so how in he'll is he going to "punish " Canelo?? By only going head hunting agian??? Lol

    Well, in Kovalev's defense... he was a little more focused and in beter shape mentally and physically in the Pascal rematch wasn't he?

    they mean a little, but you have to be able to do it like Hagler vs. Hearns.. GGG could do it just because he is bigger. If he were not the bigger guy, I think that would backfire on him. He needs to move up and fight bigger guys and prove he can beat bigger guys.

    And he still won clearly to boxing fans. You don't get a draw against Canelo unless you clearly win the fight, they aint giving out draws for an even or close fight, Canelo's getting the nod if its close everybody knows
