Golovkin "If i looked great against Jacobs i would not get Canelo fight"

So you guys are saying that after picking up his greatest career victory, only then was Golden Boy willing to make the Canelo fight? Hmm. Two ways to look at everything.

Golovkin knocked Jacobs down, staggered him with a left jab, out boxed Jacobs, out jabbed him, he looked good, but did not push as hard as he usually does because he wanted to fight El Pollo, then Saunders.................

Ffs, he's not saying that he looked bad vs Jacobs on purpose, he's just saying that Canelo took the fight because he didn't finish Jacobs in brutal fashion. And he's right.

 

He said against Brook that he purposely allowed Brook to land shots and purposely looked not as good in order to appear an attractive fight. That's rubbish. Jacobs and Brook both genuinely troubled him and Canelo is a class above. Personally think it will be a great fight. Predict GGG to do his usual thing and cut Canelo off and take the early rounds but Canelo to find away of getting in and out of range on the back foot and frustrating GGG to take the later rounds

 

No, what he said was that he purposefully turned the Brook fight into an ugly street fight. This makes sense if you watch that fight compared to his disciplined behind the jab typical approach in fights where he respects the other mans power. I don't think he gets hit on purpose, but he does in fact change his style into something more hittable when he wants to go 100% offense and roll over someone he doesn't respect like a Brook or Monroe. It's really pretty clear.

When GGG claims to take it easy people take it as he purpously took punches. No. What hes saying is he eased his foot off the gas when he couldve gone full throttle. I absolutely believe it because watching his fights you can clearly see it especially if you watch the Brook fight. He nearly had brook out in the first but then let up for a few rounds but once he said enough was enough he ended the fight. I think hes going to ko Canelo in a one sided fight thats going to make headlines.

 

He is right that looking bad probably helped push the fight with Canelo, but I do not believe it was on purpose. It would be dumb to look so bad that you risk losing the decision which would have killed the fight with Canelo.
