Golovkin is no longer an elite fighter and hasn't been since the Lemiuex/Murray fights

Ever since then we've seen an erosion of Golovkin's physical ability. I can't call him an elite fighter right now. He hasn't been fighting like one in years. Father time wins like it always does.

-Gonzalez (maybe getting ring worn himself)
    -Loma
    -Garcia
    -Crawford
    -Inoue
-Ward (Probably damn close to past it)
-Kovalev (probably past it at his point to be honest)

Those are the elites right now. Boxing looks like it's in a transition period now. The 2010's guard is getting old or worn down. But the young blood hasn't really stepped it up yet. I don't rate Thurman, Spence, Canelo, Joshua, etc. as elites.

Father time is the real P4P champion.

35yrs is old for a pressure fighter.

As a generalisation, pressure fighters tend to show age first out of the 4 classic styles.

Yea I'd say age goes like this from aging quickest to slowest.

    -Pressure
    -Puncher
    -Boxer-Puncher
    -Boxer

But pressure is easily the fastest to age. Most of them are done by the time they are 30-31.

Of course there are exceptions, but generally I'd agree with your list. Skilled pure boxers gradually decline but can remain competitive up to 40 odds.

Pressure fighters tend to go through sharp decline at some point between 30-33.

Cool story bro. He just made a legit p4p top ten contender look like an amateur.

You must be joking, he just dominated who according to most is a top 5 p4p boxer and you're saying he is not elite anymore? If hes not elite then Canelo is a B level fighter.

The Jacobs who faced GGG was far more impressive than Canelo and I would highly favour him over Canelo if they fought fair and square. Canelo would be chasing shadows all night and getting tagged from range, like Lara but much worse.

BJS vs Canelo is a 50/50 fight from what I saw last night.

The pressure fighter style requires a lot of stamina, and pressure fighters take a lot of punishment.

I would love to credit Father time with including the mighty GGG on his victim list but I honestly saw NOTHING in Golovkin last night to justify it.

He wasn't winded. In fact, Canelo looked more winded than he did.

He wasn't slower, in fact I detected an increase of speed.

He wasn't clumsy on his feet. In fact, he was cutting off the ring as usual and managed to corner Canelo repeatedly.

And he definitely can't be said to have been arm-punching or pitter-pattering in the Connor's style.

So the only reason I am left is to say that he has deteriorated because of his inability to knock out or convincingly out point Canelo. But that would require that I cunningly downplay Canelo's boxing skills and exceptionally sturdy chin. Sorry but not going to do.

He didn't knock an elite fighter like Canelo out in round 1! What a bum!

He's faded a bit but is very clearly still elite.
