I don't know about the complete package. When I think of a complete fighter I tend to think of Ray Robinson, or Ray Leonard, a guy with power, speed, stamina, chin, who can fight inside and outside, etc. Golovkin is good, but I don't see anything yet that implies he's as good as other past great middleweights like Hopkins, Hagler, Steele, Monzon, Ketchel, or Walker. I haven't seen him show that he's even better than Martinez yet. I'm still waiting, but he needs to get those big fights and prove himself.
I don't know if that has been posted. This is a good video on GGG defense-offense transition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CF_ssl48-c
Just his 7th fight but he handles that tough spot very well! No wonder he didn't lose a single fight in Athens Olympics and brought home the Gold Medal.
Watched quite a bit of Him....His Jab's are deadly and you can often see his opponents heads snapping back when he lands them...his constant pressure and work rate combined with massive power in both hands and an enormous chin make him very close to a complete Fighter....whoever gets into the ring with Him will have a huge task ahead of them.!!!!
Once again you confirm that you are a real PAL for consistently following my every word. Keep reading and perhaps you may even learn a thing or two about the sweet science. :yep:good For example, GGG only exists in the minds of those who DKSAB as a "complete" fighter, or else the definition itself has been greatly degraded and redefined. To date, GGG hasn't fought anyone, so how can anyone in their right mind make such a stupid ass claim.
He will have my full respect once he beats Geale ! ...I expect him to win coz of his hype, but GGG needs this win to put alot of muppets like doubts about him to rest.
He has the intangibles: chin, power, speed etc. He knows how to exchange and maybe he learns a few more fundamentals before he gets in front of the likes of Froch or Ward but something tells me he can reach deep and scare anyone when under pressure. His short reach hurts him at 168
The Ouma fight fight was in his early days with Sanchez - when he was unable (apparently though I've been unable to substantiate) to fight in Germany or the US due to contractual issues with Universum - Sturms contemporaneus promoter who he left due to their refusal to let him fight their money-maker. There are plenty of stories around the GGG - Ouma fight, but it does seem clear that Golovkin came to the fight in far from ideal conditions. What it did show to me is that GGG ain't a guy to fold under adversity. A complete fighter? - I'm not sure that there is such a thing - but for a pressure fighter he is both remarkably good at not getting hit cleanly and expending his energy with great efficiency. Obviously the level of his opposition needs to be stepped up to the highest class. That Geale is seen as a virtually certain win for Golokin says much either about what fans and pundits see in him or the quality of his marketing (most likely some of both) - Geale is about as good as 160 offers - depending on how Maravilla shows of course - and for Danny to be coming in at +700ish is actually pretty remarkable despite his last US appearance being the Barker loss. How good is Golovkin - hell knows, but from what I've seen I think he could (though I say this without full certainty) beat Froch, I'm pretty damn sure he beats Jr, Kessler or Bika - the only fighter shy of 175 I'd bet against him would be Ward. You just never do know though - this is why the damn fights need to happen. This is why we're fight fans rather than speculators.
If they fight at the catch weight of 164, I like GGG to beat Ward. He would definitely beat the others although Jr. has a slugger's chance.
Deezol's ended about a dozen 'prospcts'. Nearly finished Stevenson and Kovalev would probably have sunk without a trace if he hadn't had the better of the early rounds in an SD. Ain't something to hang on Ward that he got dropped by Boone - I honestly think that if Deezol had come to the sport earlier or been managed better (or in fact, at all) he coulda found his way to a belt. Although it is, in part, his unpredictable, streetfighting style that got him the KD/ KOs some of the the time.
