WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. has not received any information regarding a deal being close. The two sides have five more days before the sanctioning body issues the purse bid order. The only interaction received was a request by Team Jacobs to improve the monetary split, in the event both sides battle at the purse bid. "As of right now, we have no information regarding an agreement. We gave them a deadline of October 10 to notify us of [an agreement being reached] - and if not the purse bid will go forward," Mendoza told ESPN Deportes. "The only request I had was from Jacobs' team to improve the percentage [being split between the fighters], but the championships committee is discussing the that matter. We think it's a great fight, which will help WBA's policy to gradually reduce the number of [WBA] titles [in each weight class]. If they face each other before the end of the year as it's being claimed, it would be a benefit for boxing and the fans this sport."

Is there a precedent in history where the mandatory split 75-25 was changed ? I never heard that, but maybe it's just me

Never heard of a case either.
But like I said before, I would be very surprised if this didn't go to pursebids because Jacobs just wants (thinks he's entitled to) too much money for the fight.

Well "interim" champions get 45 % versus regular champs, but regular champs / mandatories against super champs should get only 25%.

    4 days to go

whats the level of the negocitians since Team Jacobs asked WBA to make an exception for him and improve mandatory fight splits 75-25, in his favour, thus punishing Team Golovkin, maybe ??

What do you guys think the WBA will do ?

What does this move from Team Jacobs mean ?

I know what the brainless will say, its GGG's fault lol

Golovkin on CBS prime time in December. The courting of Golovkin has begun.

That means Jacobs would like to have more money for the fight, which means he is willing to fight for some kind of money. Anyway, I don't think Jacobs have much of a leverage in this case.

There are too many to mention going back decades.

Holmes fought Cooney (his mandatory) and they split 50-50. (In fact, both were supposed to get $10 million, and C00ney got $10 while Holmes got $3 million.) Witherspoon-Bruno ... (Bruno - the challenger - received more than a million, Spoon = the champ - was supposed to get half that - $500,000 - but only received about $90,000.)

Tyson fought Bruno for Bruno's WBC belt and Tyson (after vacating the WBC belt) fought Seldon for Seldon's WBA belt. Seldon and Bruno (the champs) got $5 million. Tyson, the challenger, got $30 million.

Last year, Wilder (the challenger) made more than Stiverne (the champ) for their mandatory. Wilder and Povetkin were supposed to split 90 percent of their purse 70-30, with the winner getting the remaining 10 percent.

It's always open for negotiation. That's what a negotiation is. The WBA can do whatever it wants.

It would probably be more difficult to find mandatories where they strictly adhered to the 75-25 split. They're always tweeking it.
