    Per Steve Kim:

@steveucnlive: (edited) Tom Loeffler tells me that 10,000-plus tickets have noW been sold for GGG-Lemieux at MSG on Oct 17th. Folks, dont wait... #boxing

They sold over 6K in the presale which hit a MSG record. Madison Square Garden holds a little over 20,000.

Guys, if you don't have tix and you want to go... Like Steve Kim said, don't wait.

Oh but I thought no one cared about GGG and Lemieux, I thought it wasn't PPV worthy.:yep Looks like fans really like all action matches and not chess matches like so many on here want to try to convince themselves of.

I'm not sure that the live gate sales automatically translates into a guaranteed success on PPV.

Anyone know the attendance numbers for other fairly recent matches at the Garden?

How have Cotto's recent matches there done?

    Wlad-Iggy?

    Bowe-Golota?

I'd be surprised if it did major numbers. As I stated in another thread earlier, I can't think of a recent example who successfully headlined a PPV out of the gate as a first time A-sider.

    We'll see soon enough.

I'm thinking 400 to 500k maybe. GGG regularly draws over a million viewers and believe it or not Lemieux-Rosado peaked at 1.1 mill. So it'll do better than most think but not a huge box office success.

Views on regular view is another thing that doesn't always translate into PPV success, is it?

I would assume Cotto was doing over a million views in his last bout prior to (and following) Martinez, and that Canelo has to be drawing similar numbers prior to and after his fight with Angulo? And I'm pretty sure Hopkins-Pascal II did good numbers on HBO, but Hopkins-Dawson flopped in Bernard's next match.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

But 500k - I would think that would be well above expectations here, and I'd be surprised if they managed to market an unknown commodity like Golovkin more favorably than they were able to market more established names with bigger ethnic bases (for PPV buying purposes).

    But we'll see.

It's a good card with GGG & Gonzales headlining it. 2 guys who would make Chavez Sr proud. I think this fight is drawing a lot of Latinos in NYC.

Latinos seem to have taken to GGG and may actually be buying into the Mexican style gimmick a little, and I do think he's becoming somewhat of a small phenomenon with casuals as well, but I could be wrong and it may only do 275-300, while a logical fan of GGG and one of the few big fans of Lemieux I may be a little biased sometimes.:yep
