Murray lost to Martinez. Lost a decision tho, by the logic of certain people here Maravilla is ****. So is Sturm BTW.

I'm a fan of both guys but neither really had elite wins at MW. I guess Trinidad for Hopkins and Canelo for GGG, otherwise there isn't much separation IMO. They have similar resumes.

And for everyone pooing on GGG opponents, is anyone here old enough to remember the Morrade Hakkar debacle on HBO? Merchant even made Hopkins angry in the post-fight interview but telling him he was ripping off the fans (or something to that effect). Hopkins defended it by saying it was a mandatory defense for one of his belts. For everyone talking smack about Martirosyan, he is a million times better than Hakkar.

Hopkins had other defenses against pretty weak opposition that is indefensible (and same with GGG). It is what it is, sometimes a weight class isn't that strong. You can't blame the fighter for that.

Poor scoring. He was Hatton gardened.. It was retaliation for the Falkland island's.

Yes , you are correct _Franky. . GGG is only trolling GB and Hopkins with these ridiculous comments.

Trinidad was P4P #2 when Hopkins completely dominated and stopped him at age 36. Thats an elite win.

You could argue Ring and Lineal Champ Pavlik was an elite win.

P4P is subjective. Canelo is P4P #1 on Boxrec, is he really the best fighter in the sport? Again, both Trinidad and Canelo are by far the best wins on either guys resumes.

Pavlik wasn't at Middleweight but a catchweight of 170 pounds, it doesn't count to this discussion.

Nobody pays much attention to boxrec rankings . Ring rankings are what matter.

Canelo is rated #4. Trinidad was rated #2.. Golovkin doesn't have a win over Canelo , he got a draw , whereas Hopkins went through Trinidad like he was nothing.

Hopkins beat Pavlik when he was an old man so decisively it removes any doubt who would have won at 160. Regardless of the CW , its still a better win than any from Golovkin.
There isn't anything stopping Golovkin from targeting challenges in other weight classes if he wasn't to be as great as Hopkins.

    Well, let's see, a second.

Who did Mercado beat that was ANY good? What was his opposition like?

When I flip through his resume all I see is noobs with 10 fights or less, debut boxers, guys with losing records and guys that are just about breaking even. There are about 4 fighters with records that can be mentioned without blushing, and even their careers were well padded with nobodies.

    What about Ouma?

Ouma beat 28-1 Jantuah, 31-7 Phillips (who beat Julian Jackson no less), he KO'd 50-9 Mora (who went the distance with Reid and Martinez) and he had a win over Rubio. Yes, he lost a few. To HIGH level opposition. For example, to Taylor, who wiped the floor with Hopkins, and to Martirosiyan who GGG is fighting next.

A tough tough guy that's been in with the best?

... the same Jantuah that was beaten by Ouma who was destroyed by GGG ... carry on, this is amusing :)

Pirog ... yawn. At the time Golovkin fought Proksa people thought Proksa might be better than Pirog.
