He learnt a lot from Golovkin during that 1 and half years and has made him to the fighter he is today. At that time Kovalev was the student Golovkin always had Superior skills and use to teach kovalev like how he teaches his other sons in big bear. Him spending that amount of time with Golovkin really fastened his ascent to the top.
I have no problem with him learning from his gym mate, but to say GGG made Kovalev what he is today is ridiculous. Kovalev became what he is in boxing today, by hardwork and dedication! I know that sounds cliché but that's the case here. He pursued the toughest fights in his division at whatever costs. Conceded to fighters, and now it's paid off for him. He did those things to get to where he is today, on his own....GGG had nothing to do with it.. at all.
Agreed without his hard work and dedication he would not of got the top but Golovkin played a big role in his development
Kovalev did say that GGG helped him a lot in the gym, they are friends. However you can't say that GGG "made" Kovalev. Firstly their styles are quite different, and secondly, Kovalev needed to work hard himself and have the natural talent.
I'd hope friends would help each other. TBH i'd love to go 3-5 rd's with GGG in a spar you'd learn so many things.
I like both guys They came up the hard way No padded records for these guys They are This content is protected
Hard work and dedication brings you just some way, talent brings you a little further, having the best trainer at a young probably is the most important asset.
