All greats have their haters. Just look at all the screaming between Lebron James and Kobe fans. People need something to love and something to hate. If your successful you WILL have haters. When GGG was a hardcore fight fan fav when he was destroying the likes of Proksa, Macklin, he had no haters but a small fan base. I LOL at the haters, being emotionally riled up by a person that doesn't even know they exist!
Stevens fought Brinkley and Primera at SMW and Dhafir Smith at LHW. He's killing himself to make MW. Log off.
It doesn't fit the narrative that guy has. Don't even bother. Assuming Jacobs can even hit Golovkin cleanly he'll still say the same thing months afterward.
Can you give us a link to an available line on the fight? It's not on Bet365, it's not listed on oddschecker, and it's not on the leading US market bookie for boxing, 5dimes. I don't doubt that GGG will be the clear fave, but I suspect more like 1/6 than 1/8.
Personally I follow no sports figure unconditionally, The bottom line is you are never going to be able to dictate who other people root for, or how they do it.
Besides the examples of Stevens and Lemieux, I'd like to point out Brook. Yes, Kell came up in weight but he did literally lift GGG off the ground with an uppercut to the face- without so much as a blink from GGG. That tells me (IDKSAB) that 1) that was probably a hard punch and 2) GGG can take a punch.
