He wasn't talking **** on twitter, he spoke to Mannix from Sports Illustrated/NBC Sports who echoed it matter of factly on his twitter. That's about as high profile as boxing reporters get. So where's the denial from KC/GBP? Better yet, show me them saying "Send the damn offer, we really want that title shot". After all GGG was still looking for an opponent, it was there for the taking. Instead you saw they wanted nothing to do with GGG in that press release 3 months later.
It's too bad N'Dam bailed out of fighting Golovkin years earlier... :conf Something nobody mentioned here -and since Quillin's delusional fans have brought up shot-to-hell Winky- is the peach of a left hook that knocked Lajuan Simon out cold, something a prime Abraham couldn't do, and the guy was a monster at 160.
I'm a fan of both guys, but one difference I see in their teams is how they make opponent selection. Golovkin's handlers reach out for biggest names possible and will settle for atleast durable fighters with some forward momentum going in: Ouma - coming off controversial loss to Matirosyn and KO win over MW Joey Gilbert Simon - went distance with Abraham and Sylvester Proksa - at time a top 10 MW Rosado - 3 stoppage wins on tv and considered a large JMW Macklin - top 5 MW, pushed Sturm and Martinez - stopped late by Martinez Stevens - former SMW, 4 straight tv wins (3 by KO) Where Quillin's team looks for fighters in a lull, that he can look good against: Brinkley - coming off brutal stoppage by Bute McKewan - coming off brutal stoppage by Lee Wright - out of ring 3 years, coming off one-sided thrashing to P.Willy and hadn't won a fight in almost 6 years (Quartey '06) N'Dam - I give Pete the most credit for taking this fight, though Hassan was knocked out of ring against Lorenzo and hurt bad against Khurtsidze as well. Guerrero - stopped by Brewer and hadn't fought above D level since Rosado - one sided stoppage loss to GGG, and close fight with Love (Gabe didn't go into his fight with Quillin having the same momentum he had with Golovkin) Even now, Quillin's next opponent is looking to be Jacobs. Danny's better than Guerrero, but he's similar in that since his stoppage loss he hasn't been stepped up much and now he'll be out of the ring 6 months before they fight.
Neither have fought at the top level yet, for whatever reason. They havent fought a big accomplished MW like Sturm yet. For overall resume its very close and tough to call but for a single best win, I would favour Quillin for his win N'Jikam
so sturm is top level but macklin isn't? did you watch them fight each other? plus macklin has a much bigger accomplishment than sturm ever will, he had the balls to get in the ring with triple G. and the resumes aren't close either, as Eastcoast explained in the post before yours.
Yeah and Geale beat but lost to Barker who lost to Sturm so lets not get too carried away there I think Macklin had a great night against Sturm but overall rate Sturm as a better fighter with far greater wins and a MW who has now beaten several MW world champs ie Barker, Sylvester, Castillejo, Cherifi, Schenk, Velazco thats impressive and then look at the other names like Varon, Zbik, Masoe etc could go on with Lorenzo, Hearns, Radosevic as well as others. My point stands, they havent fought a big accomplished MW like Sturm. Remember Sturm looked the stronger against Macklin. Also Golovkin fought Macklin a fair while after. Tell me how you think their resumes match up to Sturms. This will be good
speaking of N'dam, they're trying to get a fight with him and andy lee march 1st. bailey, no one has said their resumes match sturms. you change your point to an argument you can support better. low blow, lol. who are these 'accomplished' middleweights besides sturm & martinez? neither one wants to face triple G.
It's a shame they couldn't make the fight now. I'd rather see GGG face N'Dam than the guy he's facing now.
Not sure how beating world champs are voluntaries? Do explain MW world champs ie Barker, Sylvester, Castillejo, Schenk, Velazco thats impressive and then look at the other names like Varon, Zbik, Cherifi, Masoe etc could go on with Lorenzo, Hearns, Radosevic as well as others. My point stands, they havent fought a big accomplished MW like Sturm.
Hahaha, Barker and Sebastian are the only good ones. Really, get out of here. No way everybody else is better than Golovkin, his mandatory
