I gotta say it was the most out of character performance I may have ever seen from a fighter, more so than Lomas against Lopez as at least he had a reason.

The thought occurred to me around the 8th or 9th round,,,is Canelo carrying this old man? Because I don't think GGG would have survived if Canelo had opened up on him as bad as he looked. He looked and fought like he was older than 40

I must say GGG looked much better vs Murata just 4 months ago.

I actually thought something like that happend to Alfredo Angulo when he fought Canelo. Angulo was a man who went life and death with Lara, but looked slow as molasses vs Canelo. He looked like he was pulling his punches.

Like Michael Spinks against Tyson? Was it part of the contract for Spinks to not try against Tyson?

How are you sneaking the rematch into this? Golovkin won the last 4 of that also, but the fight was even before that. Your sneaky.

What's sneaky about pointing out that in both the rematch and in the fight last night, Canelo had a commanding lead after 8, then GGG came on in the late rounds and Canelo started to gas? So it was similar in that regard. The only difference being the first 8 rounds were far more one-sided this time than 4 years ago.

No, that never crossed my mind. At the time of the Angulo vs Lara i never thought of things like that and hardly do now, but i thought that the Angulo fight looked really strange, like somebody might have threatened harm to his family.

He didn't try to win in last 4 rounds, he just followed the script, so that judges would give him a few rounds and the score wouldn't be wide like 120-108. After all he has some legacy.

Because there is no comparison between the 2 fights, and GGG wasnt behind. Ask the ringside media which 32 had it for GGG, 16 had it a draw, and 2 had it for Canelo. I doubt the ringside media had those kind of scores for GGG this time.

Even people who had GGG winning the rematch, still had him behind after 8 rounds. The argument for GGG winning the rematch generally involved him winning each of the last 3/4 rounds which he needed. But that wasn't the point that you objected to that I brought up. I stated it was similar in that Canelo outworked him over the first 8 rounds, then gassed in the last 4 rounds, with GGG coming on late and doing better towards the end than he did before that. So in the sense, fights 2 and 3 were similar. Obviously Canelo was more dominant last night over the first 8 than in the rematch, but GGG came on late in both fights. That was the point I was making, that it was similar in that way.

Even from you that's some real nonsense. It's easy to question what Canelo 'accomplished' against GGG!!

Let's shelve the controversy on the 1st 2 fights because that's been done to death and just look at the 3rd.

Canelo gassed badly against a senior citizen who was tentative as hell, not engaging for 7 rounds, throwing no right hands - even to the point where many now suspect he had a rib injury - it wasn't like GGG was pushing some pace to make Canelo, gas so badly.

GGG only swept the championship on my card because Canelo gassed so much and, arguably the 8 year younger dude looked like the older man.

You might want to deny it to yourself but the prevailing perception of this 3rd fight was NOT at all favourable for Canelo.

Yes maybe, but it seemed like the weight slowed him down, he looked ripped and healthy vs Murata. I do think that he was fighting and trying to do it with minimal damage recieved so he don't get unnecessary damage. I'm sure his wife and kids want him well. So he was using his experience to nullify Canelo's offence.
