This content is protected Coppinger goes on to reply to someone who responded to this tweet about when the deal would be done, and his response was not this week probably the following. Interesting, another big get for DAZN if true, I said in my Canelo to DAZN thread that I expected at least 1 more big star to be picked up by DAZN by the end of 2018. I think I even named Golvokin or Tank as my best guesses, but honestly I didn't think it would be this soon, or GGG. For some reason I figured he'd be heading to ESPN, oh well. What do you guys think? I think this sets up a pretty huge MW tourney to crown a unified MW champion if it happens. *edit* Just checked https://www.boxingforum24.com/threa...-over-5-years-and-365-million-dollars.617236/ and yep I predicted Golvokin or Tank Davis would be the next big stars to DAZN in the OP
Sounds good to me, since Canelo, Jacobs, Andrade, Smith and Saunders are there as well. Not a fan of these kind of services, but he's going with the better of the two options IMO.
Is he going to do his own shows or his he going to align with Matchroom or Golden boy? Uncle Tom would be a boss if he got his own deal LOL
You really don't understand how this works. Hearn is in charge of getting fighters signed to DAZN, not Matchroom. Big stars like Canelo or Golovkin who already have promoters are not gonna let their signed meal ticket out of their contract to sign with another promoter. These deals have happened the same everytime since DAZN launched. First they partnered with Matchroom and put Hearn in charge of signing fighters to DAZN, then he/they went out and got the WBSS, then a co-promotional deal for Matchroom with Usyk, then Canelo & Golden Boy, and now possibly Golovkin and K2. I'd say Hearn's doing a damn fine job of getting content for DAZN.
He just almost doesn't have any other options. He's out of big fights now, and DAZN can pay a lot even for not so top opponents.
Eddie was there when the deal was made. Eddie had little to do with the actual deal, but he was part of it. He knew everything that was going on. DAZN needs them to work together, and thats why Eddie was there when the deal was negotiated.
Considering all of his best potential opponents minus what Brant and Charlo are at DAZN, and that they are throwing cash around, seems like a no brainer.
We had to expect this. Seems like Loeffler will sign Golovkin directly with DAZN, and isn't signing with Matchroom or Golden Boy. What I wonder now is will Loeffler get an agreement to put on other cards on DAZN too? Wouldn't have to, he could get his other guys on Matchroom or Golden Boy undercards, and he doesn't have a big stable. But would be nice if we'd have a guaranteed broadcaster for another Superfly card. He has Gonzalez and Ioka, right?
