Golovkin should fight Lara on TBS and they might get 10 people to watch.

Yet, one of their best match-ups for both division relevance and fan-friendliness. Marketing and fan ignorance would probably account for this if it's true.

It's the networks fault for poor promoting if any at all. For being an unknown 600,000 isn't bad. He's a skillful ko artist he's a promoter's dream it's the promoter and Hbo not doing their job. I wouldn worry tho the same 600,000 plus the word of mouth will guarantee more next time.

Nothing wrong with that both fighters were generally unknown before the fight. It is not the case for Golovkin any more. Ring and HBO are all over his nuts so he is going to gain some popularity. He will never have a strong national fallowing but if they try to establish him on the east side some of the Russians and other easter europeans will embrace him. On a side note I don't get the obsession of so many fans with ppv numbers, ratings and so on. We are supposed to be hard core boxing fans and for us the most important thing should be the match ups. Yeah I know boxing is busyness...

Honestly, they're higher than I expected. It was on during the Michigan-Alabama game that in itself is a big no no, and both guys were unknown to casuals. I've been a hardcore fan for a long time and I still had no idea who these guys were.

This isn't bad by any means. HBO knew coming in the ratings would suck. There plan was for Golovkin to get over, he did and that is what matters.
