been a wba regular champ means **** all particularly when he beat a 14-2-1 clubfighter to become it.Hopefully now the kilts are backing him he will get a big fight
i def understand, what bugs me is that its ok and martinez gets a pass, while sturm does the same thing and is ripped to shreds by alot of people on this forum. explain this.
It's still early days for golovkin, he does have the right stuff though and considering barker and macklin got a shot it only seems fair. Though his career is just a baby, I doubt Martinez want such a risk/reward situation as per an obscure and dangerous golovkin. If no surprise fight ensures in the next few months I see winner of Geale/Pirog when it gets made eventually being the main contender for sergio No doubt Sergio is targeting Chavez Hilarious if he gets mundine
Unfair to lump Macklin in with Barker. Macklin was on the back of beating the consensus #2 in the world. Barker's best win is Spada, barely a top 30 middleweight, probably not even that. So if you delete Macklin from your post, I'd agree with it. Golovkin and Martinez are the two best middleweights in the world imo. But the fact of the matter is Golovkin hasn't beaten the level of opponents for Martinez to have to fight him. Ouma and Simon are C-level boxers. I know that's not through too much fault of his own, he's the most avoided boxer in the game right now. Solid contenders like Lee, Macklin, N'Jikam, Quillin etc want nothing to do with him. Also the fact he has a belt doesn't mean ****. Who you beat defines you as a boxer, not what meaningless bauble you have around your waist. There's no way DiBella makes the fight. Massive risk, little reward. It's a shame, but that's the way the game is.
Big fan of both these guys. Real classy and #1 vs #2 middleweights this fight would be a classic. GGG's straight right is probably the most lethal in the division, but so is Sergio's right hook and straight left. These guys have great talent GGG doesn't look very flashy even looks regular at times, but the guy is super patient and gets the victory every time. Sergio on the other hand fights flashy, can look regular at times too, but he has spectacular endings to his fights. I have to give the edge to Sergio he's p4p #3 for a reason and many have him #1. I wouldn't argue with that. If GGG has a high profile win Sergio has to fight him. Pirog same thing. Needs at least one high profile win to earn a fight with Sergio.
"I don't think I've ever come across a trainer as enthused about his client as Sanchez is about Golovkin. He said his fighter has already run Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Peter Quillin and Alfredo Angulo out of the ring in sparring." From some blog. From what I recall reading Golovkin did something like that to Canelo, too.
The WBA says Golovkin is the mandatory but they still allow Sturm to keep his title and push the fight back every time.
