This can only end up going terribly for Oscar. He needs to stay retired and work on fixing his promotional company. I fear for his health and sanity if he thinks it's a good idea to take on someone like GGG.
He could probably drag Fletcher down to 155 and get himself rated. Fletcher would undoubtedly jump at the opportunity to earn 300k....add another 100 k and he'd lay down in whichever rd Oscar wished. That win would garner enough respect to get ppl interested in a fight wit GGG
Um, eh, no, not really. Honestly the only upside to an Oscar fight, or even Oscar talking about it... is the slight potential to shame other fighters around the weight to step up.
HBO and the fans are firmly behind Golovkin. All they have to do talk about how no big names wants to fight Golovkin, and this is the route he had to take to get a big fight. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure everyone would understand that it wouldn't make much sense for Golovkin to turn down the fight.
Hes been fighting 3-4 times a year for the past few years. There ARE guys who want to fight him. Literally anyone in the top 50 at MW, (or LMW) is a more legitimate fight than washed up, hasnt fought in 7 years De La Hoya. Some of those years of course being spent in rehab.
GGG wants a payday and Oscar wants Canelo to make him $$$. But in Canelo CANT KEEP fighting at 155 and if he fights Cotto, hell be forced to vacate or take an L...thus hurting Oscars bottom line. So Oscar and K2 agree to pay the steps side $$$ then give GGG his payday vs Oscar then let him become s PPV star in a unification fight with Lemiuex so long as GGG and K2 agree to vacate the MW division so Canelo can become the cash cow
Oscar's fighters aren't making him enough money and are so scared of Golovkin he has to do it himself?
The Great Oscar The Golden Boy De La Hoya is what is right with boxing. Props to Oscar for showing this young up and comers that to be great you need not be afraid to be great.
