Golovkin should base himself in another country like Wladimir did

The funny thing is that Golovkin is way short of being main event material.
He is like Arsenio to Eddie Murphy, a good side kick but not a leading man.
He is tailor made for being undercard worthy and should start opening for big acts like Canelo-Chavez.

 

the US just doesnt care about boxing anymore. if a fighter came around that fought like tyson, foreman or dempsey then the guy would be a star instantly. the last iconic fighter that the US produced was Tyson, so yes you have to go back to the mid-80's to find a star. right now in 2017 you need an american that fights brutally, can speak well, not a criminal and is well mannered, a beast in the ring but somebody that the public can say that they like as a person.

 

One can never be certain who is aware of actual facts on the site...or simply willing to deal in alternative facts.

 

lol...canelo has been main eventing in texas and vegas for like 4 years now.....3 years ago ggg was main eventing in the MSG theatre.....

it would be funny to see jacobs beat him....but i doubt that happens....ggg is pretty good...although i dont think hes as unbeatable as we once thought.....

but i agree...i think loeffler and co. are very arrogant...i think they overstate their position in boxing because a few people like to suck them off in the press....

Agree he will likely beat Jacobs but I still give Jacobs a chance to cause the upset as GGG is used to fighting bums. It would be satisfying to see Canelo stop GGG but even more satisfying to see Jacobs KO him for less money.

He's never going to be a major superstar in the states. No one outside of the hardcore boxing community (which is quite small in the states,) has any idea who Golovkin is.

I think it's due to a couple reasons- he turned professional way too late and he also doesn't have a strong command of the English language. His broken English is endearing to the boxing fans, but it's not going to make him a crossover type of superstar.

In order to be a PPV superstar or just well known over here in the states, the fighter has to be the complete package- both inside and outside the ring. While Golovkin does have a terrific in ring style for the casual fans, he doesn't have the personality to make him a well known commodity in the states. Him being in his mid 30's doesn't help his cause either.

 

He will accept that 15M if he has nothing on the table. But he will soon be a unified MW champ (beating Jacobs), the belts has value. Canelo has never fought a true MW, let alone a true SMW.

 

he's a Kazakh in the states. didn't he already base himself in another country?
