This may very we'll be true. That's why its a risk.
At 160 Canelo can't win. And everyone knows it. That's why the fight won't happen at 160.

Canelo can happily avoid GGG for a good 2 years. He can fight Andrade, Charlos. Throw in a few stay busy fights. Waits GGG out til he's 35-36.

Based on what, he beat Cotto clearly, Canelo-Lara was close the best Lara did was a draw, the KD won him the Trout fight. No controversy whatsoever.:deal

    I agree.

If it's 157 or no fight I'd much prefer 157.

We will have to wait and see what the WBC say but it is all moot as GGG is his mandatory at 160 so Canelo has to fight at 16 of lose the belt.

I suspect he will milk it as much as he can..

    Middleweight title is 160.
Canelo either defends at 160 or gives up his title.
    It pretty simple.

I am against catchweights in general, but this sort of makes sense. Although, Canelo would probably just view it as weakness and desperation and insist on 155.

That said, when its all said GGG may have to concede to the weight. I think he'd smash Canelo either way.

Canelo reminds me of that chicken The Rhode Island Red Maybe that should be his new nickname

Got a feeling the WBC will drag its feet. Come to an agreement within 15 days? Right.,Alvarez can always offer CW at 155. GGG rejects it. Canelo doesn't get stripped.

WBC pres talking about "double header" to promote fight. Saying fight should happen in SEPT.

Agreed with most, Canelo clearly beat Cotto 7-5 being generous for Cotto, and 8-4 which is the most reasonable scorecard, but saying you can't make a case for Lara winning is ridiculous. No way was that a draw at best.

Agree. Lara should have won the fight IMO. He also should have known though that he would have had to press on the gas more to get the decision, and Canelo gave him tons of opportunities to do just that. It's almost unfair that he doesn't get a rematch, but he didn't win the fans over either.

****nelo walks into the ring at over 170. The vato is supposedly a middleweight champion. He should respect the rules and fight for the title at 160. The guy is blatantly trying to use whatever meds he's on to play the drain game to his advantage. Time for the boy to man up and follow the rules. He is not bigger than boxing. His need to do this speaks to a lack of confidence in his ability to deal with similar sized opponents. He's turning into a red-headed junior Chavez.

I agree with this. That's why he's been fighting at 155. Canelo is too heavy for 154, but too short for 160. He knows he will have trouble fighting true middleweights. However, because he has the fan following, he gets away with his weight games.

Alvarez holds the cards here, but to ask for 155 is pretty laughable when its clear he drains quite a bit to make weight

Unfortunately for GG, even at a catch weight, he would still clearly be favored, which doesn't help his case that he shouldn't agree to a catch weight. And, he is seen as guy who doesn't take chances, has been fighting weak comp, and is being pushed to be a big star. I can see nothing that helps GG's case.
