There's no doubt in my mind Golovkin carried Canelo to a decision; he let the golden goose survive without going to the body in exchange for getting a huge purse ( and the rematch too!).

The level of corruption has effectively become unreal, with not only the commission, promoters, judges and TV announcers being on the take, but the boxers and trainers themselves joining them.
This is what hundreds of millions of $$ can do to people.
I don't see any reason to take this sport seriously anymore.

    Boxing trully died last saturday.

I dunno about that. I agree that the decision not to attack Canelo to the body was to my mind, foolish and irrational, but maybe they had their reasons. I also wish GGG had shown more urgency when he had Saul on the ropes. Certainly, though, if GGG was trying to carry Canelo he wouldn't have hammered him with that murderous punch right behind the ear.

No, I think Golovkin thought that to KO Canelo he needed to go for the head. Canelo has a tough-looking body, looks hard to stop with a body-shot.

If there was a set-up to ensure the fight went the distance, neither fighter would have thrown the big shots that they did.

He didn't throw it away by any means, he just fought an Elite fighter, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, boxing is dead. They have been saying that for the last 50 years and it is still thriving. If you don't like it, don't watch:wanker

This. You can't force knockouts against elite competition. GGG against both Jacobs and Canelo was a lot more selective with his shots. The few times GGG tried to finish Canelo on the ropes resulted in Canelo countering him and forcing the fight back to the middle of the ring.

When you go to the body on a kid that can counter like Canelo you take a big risk of getting KTFO

Just face facts that GGG is not this monster that can take down anyone.

Canelo doesn't have the power of Lemieux or Stevens. Gennady sinked his left hook on both, which effectively ended the fight.
He was always looking for that shot throughout these bouts.

    its because canelo is solid.
its like any fighter in history, step up the comp and the KO's and easy victories generally stop.

saying GGG or both of them framed the public to get a 2dn fight is bogus. Did you see the over hand that hit GGG, canelo wasnt trying for a 2nd fight, the same over hand that took out khan and kirkland. GGG was throwing back put hitting air.

    face it.
He's not that good when he fights somebody as this weight.

Exactly. GGG fans need to stop bitching and give canelo some credit. They allowed themselves to believe the hype that GGG was some super human who could do what he wants vs anyone. The same fans believed the rubbish that GGG deliberately didn't destroy Jacobs as he wanted the canelo fight.

He was tentative to commit to the body because of the counter shot! Nothing more
