Even the staunchest of GGG supporters should understand how nonessential this fight is .it prove nothing more than the fact that GGG is bigger stronger and more primed vs a boxer who's essentially a class above him yet good enough and big enough to neutralize all of Floyds abilities and basically run him over. The fight would be counterproductive in my opinion though if it was made there's no doubt I'd watch.
You think that? Really? I believe if the fight was contested at 154 it would be the 2nd most difficult fight available to him (besides Ward at 168 ) from 154-168. It would prove more to me than smashing Canelo/Cotto/Froch. And it would be counterproductive? If he became the man to beat Floyd he would be an instant box office draw for the rest of his career. How is that counterproductive?
Floyd's no JMW and if the fight did happen with the man nearing 40yrs old I just don't see the signifigance other than boosting up GGG appeal to the public by knocking off a smaller, older more accomplished ATG. So in my humble opinion it would be counterproductive for a historian like myself similar to Holmes beating Ali was natural progression, Marciano over Joe natural progression,,,,, GGG vs Floyd pointless propaganda .just my thoughts though of course I can clearly see the appeal and how it would capture more casuals.
At this point in GGG's career (he is 33 years old already) he has to think about what could make him a box office draw sooner rather than later. Nothing in the world could accomplish that to the same degree that a win over Floyd would. I agree Floyd is certainly no true JMW. But the fact remains he is the lineal champion there and was happy to move up (I know, not to the full limit) and take Canelo to school. Can you think of other fights that could be held from 154-168 that you think would be more difficult for GGG other than Ward? I really can't. I don't think any of Canelo, Cotto, Froch, Andrade, Lara, Dirrell (x2), Quillin, Lee, Vanes, Charlo (x2), Trout, Groves, Degale have as good a shot at beating GGG as Floyd does at 154. Just my opinion.
Demands as in asking for the fight to happen. Definitely didn't mean "demands" as a contractual agreement or "deal" of any sort. He won't get a fight against the #1 man in the sport and the biggest money maker being a complete unknown with a poor record. Oh and he wants Mayweather to move up for it too?. Mayweather isn't even supposed to be the Light Middleweight champion yet he remains due to absolute incompetence from the WBC and WBA. Even Mayweather himself didn't like the fact that the WBC and WBA kept him as a champion there despite having 3 straight fights below at Welterweight.
Incompetence by the governing bodies is nothing new and so Floyd is still champion. Technically GGG would be moving down to contest Floyd's belt. But overall, I agree. Fight won't happen. There's no reason for Floyd to make it happen. There's just no reason to criticize GGG. He's not being an ass, he's not calling Floyd out, he's not saying Floyd is scared of him, he's not even saying he'd beat him. He's just saying he'd like the fight when he's asked about it. Of course he wants the fight everyone wants to fight Floyd. Fighting Floyd is a license to print money.
slow news day. the quotes are from that 1 interview from years ago, when ggg was asked about fighting floyd. some of you should know better. looking primarily at you, scar.
What they're doing now as far as incompetence is concerned is unfortunately new. They literally s****ped off a rule in favor of Mayweather and Mayweather himself said he did nothing to let them do that, his management did and he knew nothing about it. He literally acknowledged that this makes him look terrible. Indeed it won't. It would actually be an insult to Mayweather to fight someone who's biggest win only recently came with all the rest of his opponents, including the upcoming one, are in the 20 to 1 underdog categories.
Well agree to disagree that it would be an insult to Floyd because it's the hardest fight he could make even if it doesn't make business sense for him. There's no insult in fighting great fighters.
Care to further explain?, because I literally understood nothing there except for the interview being years ago. Oh and is years ago back when GGG scored a spectacular win over Stevens?, or was it years before that when he starched Fuchigami in a Ukrainian airport?.
Look, I get where you're coming from. It just makes no sense to criticize GGG for wanting the fight. He would be insane to not want the fight.
And GGG is great based on what?. Even though it's not apparent, I'm not really criticizing as much as I'm laughing to be straight forward with you. I'm taking this as seriously as everyone took Abraham calling out De La Hoya after beating Miranda in the rematch. To Abraham's defense however, he had some seriously noteworthy wins, unlike GGG.
Alright, this is a conversation I'm not going to have. It's the hardest fight Floyd could make but I won't fault him if he chooses not to. I'll leave it at that.
I'll only get excited to see Floyd fight again if it's against Golovkin which means I'm never going to get excited to see him fight again.
I will pay no matter who its up against (Except if it's Pac because he cheated the fans out of so much money).
