I'm not really sure how hard he will be to be honest. This will be his first fight at 154 ever in his entire professional career. Making a move down like that is never healthy.
Yep, true. We don't know how he would respond to 154. But he seems extremely confident he can make the weight with ease. He says he walks around near 165. An 11 lb cut is hardly anything new or drastic in boxing, though everyone's body is differently balanced and fighting Floyd for the first time at a new weight isn't exactly a great 'welcome to the division'. But I still can't envision a tougher fight for Floyd to make. Only remotely comparable one would be Andrade IMO and I still think GGG would be tougher. I just don't see any reason for you to be criticizing GGG for wanting the fight.
Considering that Floyd plans to vacate his 147 titles, but hasn't yet said anything about his 154 status, could mean that he's planning on fighting above welter weight from here on. Doubt he fights Golovkin, but at least, using this logic, there remains a possibility.
For a fight like this he will tell you he's extremely confident and comfortable grabbing a rock stiff phallus on demand. The money and attention a Mayweather fight brings is beyond anything he ever dreamed of. I answered the criticism part. Here it is.
He's planning to vacate all. However, I think he will only drop the 154 belts and keep the Welterweight ones for his next one(or two, as I expect) fights.
Fair enough. I stand by it being the toughest fight Floyd could make and I stand by having no intention of criticizing him if he elects not to.
GGG wanting the fight vs deserving the fight are two completely different subjects all together and then theres the viewing public who would jump all over this bout many of which no nothing about the real details of the significance of the fight or lack there off.
I'm not sure who you're siding with in this topic Caper or what your personal thoughts of this fights are either. But as far as significance is concerned, this fight has zero significance in my opinion, both business and record wise. GGG moving down to 154 for the first time since he was an amateur in 2005(or was it before?) is absolutely ludicrous and purely for money. That move all alone, with Goloovkin's lack of popularity and noteworthy wins pushed aside, makes this fight insignificant.
I can agree the fight is completely pointless, though I can't help but think satisfying my agenda seems a bit selfish. The boxing community can be a very tight and niche group and needless to say the casuals make up a large chunck of the audience and I can't deny the fact that their is some appeal to the fight when considering the masses and the majority of todays boxing public. All that said your question clearly states to put the above mentioned behind and of course when you do exactly that the fight is somewhat meaningless.
I think I agree with both of you on more points than we disagree on. But humor me for a minute and answer me this. If we take the leap and assume GGG will not be drained/diminished at 154 who out there is a tougher fight for Floyd today? Maybe Andrade at 154, I can't really think of anyone else, Brook would probably be the next biggest challenge but much less so than GGG/Andrade. Neither of whom 'deserve' or have 'earned' the shot. And in the reverse, who is tougher for GGG than Floyd from 154-168 other than Ward at 168? Again, I only really think Andrade.
Golovkin would destroy Floyd. He is Floyd's worst nightmare - a big (relatively to floyd) powerpuncher with excellent technique and solid chin. Unlike stubby-armed canelo, he will win by a tko.
When considering the masses, the appeal is far less than you think it is to be honest. Golovkin's record is right there to witness and it's as poor as can be for someone that wants to make the jump from 0 PPVs headlined and 0 noteworthy wins to the #1 star in the sport both P4P and PPV wise. Golovkin has no case at all in this and I'm not hating here, even though I admit I despise his deluded fanbase, just stating the truth. I don't think you will disagree when I say that Amir Khan(who only had one PPV in England, could be more I'm not sure) is years ahead of him as far as record record and popularity are concerned. After the Pacquiao fight, I've literally seen different names scattered for Mayweather's next fight from casuals(not necessarily on this site). From Pacquiao rematch, to Khan, to Garcia, to Cotto II and even Alvarez II. I haven't stumbled upon a single link or comment bringing up GGG. See, this is what you get when you stumble upon a GGG comment. Mental cases that think giving up 2 athletic pounds for a professional Boxer is equivalent to them taking massive dumps after devouring coupon meals in McDonald's.
Sorry buffy not a hope in hell Floyd will fight GGG He'll take his fellow fraud Quitter Cotto for his last Showtime fight. That's if Cotto wins his next fight. Anyone that buys that **** is nuts
