GGG's mother laughed at the fact that GGG becomes more popular in Russia and said that they made fun of GGG upon his rise and always considered him inferior to boxers from Russia (Gaydar Gaydarbekov and Dmitri Pirog). His mom also said many Russians now changed their tune as soon as GGG has become a star and try to claim him as theirs: in the past Russian TV laughed at the notion of televising GGG's early pro bouts.

I personally think there is a growing hate towards him among Russians as well. Rivalry between boxing schools of Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine is very strong. Russian forums are filled with hatred towards GGG it's not even funny. If you ask me who is the most hated boxer on Russian speaking boxing forums, I'd say it's GGG (Kazakhstan) by Russians and Ukrainians and Klitschko (Ukraine) by Russians. Well, there's always a balance:)

First he needs to talk to russian integration. Then he needs to beat Ward.

If GGG can win belts at middle, super middle and light heavy, then retire undefeated, that would be tough to beat.

Golovkin was born in the Soviet Union in a family of Russian father and Korean mother and his first language is Russian. The coal mining area of Kazakhstan where he grew up is mainly populated by Russians. When he was born, nobody could imagine that Kazakhstan would become an independent country. So, he is certainly at least as much "Russian" as he is "Kazakh". The poster wasn't talking about citizenship here.

Thank you for schooling these children. There were millions of people in the USSR that were moved around by the dictator Stalin so as to keep nationalistic non-Soviet patriotism down. Wlad and Vitali K were born in Kazakhstan but consider themselves Ukrainian, for example. I had a kid working for me in Kiev who was born in Siberia because his Ukrainian family has been forcibly moved there before he was born...he didn't speak Ukrainian but considered himself Ukrainian because he was his ethnic background.

So I suppose Stalin has ultimately failed. Unless Putin puts it all back together again..using tanks this time.

This is part of the issue with eastern Ukraine and also in the Baltic nations...Russians were moved into those countries so as to make the local majority a minority.

Oh you're right. I knew the Soviet Union fell, but since I don't remember it, I figured it was before I was born. Forgot Golovkin is way older than me, and that he did live in the Soviet Union before its dissolution.

Not aaying I agree with it, but thats what the winner will demand

GGG to come down to 155, as neither have fought at 160 officially

Either Cotto or Canelo dictate terms against GGG, as they are much bigger draws!

    This is a harsh reality

Will GGG accept this term? Or continue fighting guys like Monroe and Adama instead

He doesn't have to accept sh!t. Winner has to face him plus no way Canelo would want 155, it'd be in his interest to fight at 160.
