LOL! So he should either drain himself to an imaginary weight class...or move up? How about, I don't know, fighting where he has a belt?
In relative and absolute terms weight jump from 160 to 168 is bigger than 168 to 175. If Ward can“t handle smaller step up to 175 why should GGG go to 168? If Ward is so great and unbeatable, why does he need all the advantages? Like someone already said, he has more or less the same height and reach as Kovalev, so why does he insist he is too small for 175? GGG is much smaller in terms of weight, height and reach, but still some of you want him to go up. Seems a bit illogical to me.
I very much think that the Golovkin camp is expecting Ward to make all sorts of demands, and that this offer is in order to forestall some of them. If you look at it, it's exactly a 50-50 proposal. Ball is now in Ward's court to deal with. I think that it's good that there IS an offer on the table. :good I don't recall Ward making any concrete offers for a fight? :think
Ward made his pro debut 12/18/2004 against Chris Molina at 165 lbs. The same weight GGG was then fighting at as an amateur. Ward is 6'0 with a 5'11 reach GGG is 5'10 1/2 with a 5'10 reach. It's not like George Foreman fighting Qawi here. Ward never said that he was moving down in weight, not once. Golovkin has said many times through his management that he was willing to move up, and Abel Sanchez has said as well that he beat Kovalev so badly in sparring that they had to send him home after 3 rounds (Kovalev BTW doesn't really deny it.) These are the facts.
Actually, Ward would only be going up 3 lbs. from his last fight to fight Kovalev or Stevenson. When Stevenson called out Ward live on HBO, he told Ward that he would come down to 168 and fight him, but Ward refused to even answer him.................then, if a fight with Ward were to happen, Ward wants, at least a couple more fights before fighting Golovkin, but why should Golovkin give up his WBC mandatory fight against the winner of Cotto/Alvarez? Golovkin is Cotto's mandatory, Cotto is paying Golovkin step aside money so he can fight Alvarez..................I think Alvarez will beat Cotto, but Golovkin will knock out either one, but either one will give up the title rather than fight Golovkin. At 160 Golovkin has Cotto, Alvarez, Quillin, Lee, Sturm, ad infinitum..........................Ward cheats, always his home town, his personal referee, his judges, his boxing commission, he gets most of the money and yet he can't draw flies.......................how about Ward fighting Beterbiev, who only has 9 pro fights? Bet Ward would not do that either....................there is no big fight at 168.............
The Pac****s/Golovkunts (not sure there's a difference anymore) are always criticizing Floyd, but one thing is for sure, when his manager and trainer (father and or uncle) talk out of turn, he tells them exactly what he should; to shut the **** up, unlike GGG and MOH-knee. That is what he is supposed to do, he is the boss, they are employees. GGG needs to learn that, his people are really making him look stupid.
Golovkin is an exciting fighter, Void is boring as hell. Void fans complain about Vlad, yet Void holds, runs like hell, gets no knockouts, at least none for a very long time. Castillo and Oscar beat Void, but Void's judges gave those fights to Void..................split decision win, Void is void.....................
LOL! His offer is below: "Gennady, you come up to 168, and I will defend my title against you." OK, we'll wait for Loeffler to respond.
\ It was meant to be irony, Bro. But the fact is, the guy defending his title generally makes more, right? This catch weight **** is stupid. A 168 lb. title fight should be at 168. Period, if not it should be a non-title fight. If you do it twice in a row you get stripped, period. And I have no problem with GGG staying at 160 forever, but this whole, "I'll fight these guy at 168 but this guy at 164 **** makes him look stupid." He really needs to reign in his people.
Damn that Loefler! Trying like Hell to get Golovkin big fights, what a jerk!atsch That sure complicates our narrative......
OK, so, basically this offer by Golovkin's camp is the FIRST concrete offer to get the fight made. IMHO that's great. It shows that Golovkin is serious about making this happen. Now, if Ward comes with some 168lb, 90-10 counteroffer, then it's obvious who wants to fight and who wants to d ick around. I also don't really see how it's fair for GGG to be the bigger draw, fight 8lbs above his normal weight AND give up a bigger split. THAT would make him look stupid.
oh guys......negotiation tactics, negotiation tactics. if they reach an agreement, the fight would happen at 168. but be realistic, ward looked more muscular against smith than he was in the past. his shoulders are significant bigger now. ward will never make 168 again, so dialogs about ward vs. ggg are pointless.
