Cotto is the lineal middleweight champ. It's time for him to get in the ring and for GGG to end his career.

He has to fight Andy Lee, Quillin and Lemieux, if Canelo or Cotto want to fight him, then so be it. He has to finish his business at 160 before he moves up, he may never be able to move down again afterwards since he will be packing on the muscle. Andre Ward being the bigger man will be a challenge no doubt, but Golovkin can get the job done, and if he loses to the bigger man there is no shame in that, at least he challenged himself, unfortunately the haters will be calling Golovkin a fraud after that :-( Right now Golovkin has to beef up his resume at 160.

YES. This is why his focus is on unifying his division. He will move up to 168 when the time is right and hopefully Ward will be a bigger fight by then.

as far as "hopefully the winner can take on ggg"

listen...if cotto wins hes not going to fight ggg...at least i think its a very, very, long shot......if cotto even fights on after this....

if canelo wins....yer prob looking at least a year before canelo would take that fight....so yer looking at november of 2016 at best probably....and there is no guarantee canelo would take it then......

ggg cant sit and wait for this...he cant count on it....he has to make moves for himself now

i understand ggg may be hesitant to go after ward at 168 as it may ruin a potential matchup with the cotto/canelo winner....but the possibiliy exists that he will still not get that guy...if cotto wins and wont take it...we kind of expect it....but what if canelo wins and still doesnt want the ggg fight? what does ggg do?...i dunno if i can handle another year/year and a half of ggg continuing like this.....hell be risking alot either way....taking on ward or waiting for a fight that might not come

Why does it mean so much for you to see GGG lose? Why does he bother you that much that he's popular? Of course the idea of him moving up and being exposed could totally backfire on you after all Boone dropped Ward and he's blown up MW, so if you think GGG dropping him is far fetched its not..

Ward hasn't faced a mandatory in like 7 years. And hasn't been stripped.

People don't give a **** about mandatories. GGG will continue being avoided because he's the best fighter on the planet.

He needs to fight someone good, I'm actually tired myself of him fighting bums but if you think critically, it doesn't make much sense for him to move up, because he's already a popular fighter, he's not in a Rigo type deal where he can't carry a fight by himself, GGG is a name fighter.

i dont hate ggg...i like him actually...as ive said....i do not like his overzealous fans and their standards(double)....i dont hate that hes popular and i dont want him to lose......but hes in a little bit of a pickle here possibly....and i dont want to see him waste another year or more of his career fighting guys who dont really do anything for his resume/career.....i dunno if he can really afford that if he hopes to enhance his legacy/credentials

By unifying the belts at 160 it gives him a spot at the hall of fame, then he could move up as he pleases, never having to look back or having to drop weight. He still has great matches, Saunders, Lemieux,Andy Lee, Quillin, by that time Canelo would have transitioned to middleweight.

Couple weeks ago, K2 was negotiating with WBC to have Canrlo/Cotto fight the winner and have them write on contract that they will or else strip them. We don't know how the negotiations ended, but WBC President tweeted a few days ago that the winner will fight GGG. So, perhaps they came to an agreement.
