didn't say anything about a business deal game. Are you under the impression they've been fighting with some amateurish production and promoter for those ten years? They were in their market. You clearly don't understand the difference.

This is the thing I have issue with.

It doesn't need justifying. Since when was moving up through the weights a necessity?

I always understood it to be a great legacy enhancer, a bonus, but not a requirement.

If he wants to stay at his natural weight, what is the problem with that. I mean sure, he might not go down as a p4p great but as a MW he could end up being remembered as a special talent.

I agree with this, and regardless, Hagler and Monzon made their names at Middleweight.

Moving up in weight is only for the guys that start young.

Floyd, Oscar, Manny, Canelo all started before age 18. They naturally grew through the weight classes as their bodies filled out.

Guys who come to boxing late are already "filled out". Froch, GGG, Martinez, Kovalev.....they generally stay in their weight class.

GGG is 5'10" and fights in the ring at 170lbs. He could maybe bulk up to 175, but 5'10" 175lbs doesnt belong at super middleweight. Just like Floyd doesnt belong at 160lbs.

You're substance was that Lomachenko moved up a weight class from his natural weight. That's his decision.

Nothing wrong with staying at your best weight.

If there are no challenges in your division, move up.

If you are able to become champion in a higher division, go for it.

Floyd at 140 is probably a fair comparison to GGG at 160. I agree with that. Mayweather challenged himself by going up in weight (after 135). I don't see the same willingness from Golovkin. Floyd was hungry. He was actually better at the lower weights as well IMO.

Maybe not you Pimp but how can all these boxing "business" experts miss the obvious when it comes to GGG and Lara?

Lara is a contract Showtime fighter. GGG is a contract HBO fighter. Unless it is a huge $$ making event like Tyson/Lewis or Floyd/Paq there is just no way one network is going to allow there guy to fight on the rival network. It doesn't matter who makes the offer, who the promoters are, or what some guy says on Twitter.

This fight is just not big enough to draw the kind of PPV buys it would need to make it happen.

What do you think when either guy goes to the network and says "get me Lara/GGG"? The networks..operating on shrinking budgets say, "no, we can't get that guy, but we can get thisbguy or that guy"

Neither fighter does enough business to force the fight.

    Surely some of you "business"
    experts get that right?

If there is a recent example besides the 2 huge events I mentioned above, please point t them to me so I can check them out. Otherwise, until either guy is no longer under contract with a rival network, this fight isn't even up for discussion from the network point of view.

There are challenges. How many of the top 5 at MW has Golovkin beaten? In his division you have Canelon with Ring and Lineal championship, Saunders with he WBO, Jacobs with the WBA.

You're right about this. I forgot that Lara was a Showtime fighter if that's the case then a fight can't happen because GGG is with HBO. I do understand that part of the business and this fight isn't big enough to warrant a cross promotion between HBO and Showtime.
