An older GGG may lose a decision to a couple of those guys....depends on the judges. I think any version of GGG chins Hearns and although SRL's movement would give him some concern I think the heavier, stronger Kazakh pressures Ray much better and ore effectively than the faded and psyched out Hagler tried to do.
I'm going to be brave and plum for hearns to win ..by ko .Not before been rocked all over first .Some how he fights back and ko s Golovkin . Maybe not the best pick of results but I've faith in Tommy .
I have faith in Tommy too, but not in his chin. I'd favour Hearns over a lot of guys at 160 but I'm not sure he could take Golovkin's punch whereas I'm reasonably certain Golovkin could take Hearns' punch. Out of Hagler's era the only guys I would risk a bet on to beat Golovkin would be Hagler himself and Leonard. And even then it's not clear-cut.
I'd fancy Golovkin against everyone on the list except the big guns like Hearns, Leonard and Duran, although I'd make GGG favourite to beat Duran.
I don't think a young Golovkin would be bothered much by pressure fighters like Vito and Hamsho. Minter and Monroe are the guys I would be worried about. Golovkin should beat them but they would be a tough fights, if he takes any early losses that would be my suspects. I think an aging Golovkin takes the three big signature wins over Hearns, Duran, and Mugabi. What wars would they be. Duran might give an aging Golovkin a harder time, I don't see Duran winning but tough match up. An aged Golovkin likely drops the decision to Leonard.
I think he cleans up until Leonard. SRL would be an incredibly difficult fight at the tail end of that streak.
I agree with those who says that Leonard would be the most difficult proposition. Stand and trade with Golovkin and most will get the worst end of that bargain, but when you box him and give him angles it is another story. Not easy, mind you, but definitely more doable. Would a post prime Leonard be able to stay out of harms way of a seek-and-destroyer like Golovkin at his best for a whole fight? Probably not. But he'd give Gennady some problems. Hearns-Golovkin would be absolutely fireworks as long as it lasted. But monster chin and monster punch is a bad combo for Hearns.
GGG also has one of the best jabs in the history of the division. And his chin should also be viewed as one of the best in the history of the division. GGG is not just big puncher who can cut off the ring. How would he do vs the below? Leonard would have the best chance. In Many cases I think he'd do better than Hagler did. In a way, Hagler is exceptionally fortunate. He was a natural middle, who just happened to hall fall of fame level lightweight and welterweights meeting him in his prime years at 160 pounds except for the Leonard fight when he was 34, and maybe just a bit past it. Hagler had his chance to move up to light heavyweight and passed on it, which I think was wise. If the 168-pound division was around during his time, I think he'd be fine there. By contrast, there is no way any Lightweight or Welter would meet GGG in his prime years. Could you imagine Mayweather, Cotto or Khan fighting GGG at 160? His resume would be stacked; these guys just knew better! Does Hagler have better wins? Yes, but he also looked worse vs guys on the level that GGG title opponents.
