Golovkin v. Ward @ 168

Golovkin batters Ward around for 9 rounds and puts him out his misery in the 10th.

 

if that's a punch from Groves, Froch, or MAYBE even Quillin's hook, or Cotto's newly found again hook, you never know. I favor him over everyone at 160, no debates. But there is definitely room for improvement. And I' m starting to feel like Abel is falling in love with GGG's power. Even from the way he talks about GGG, it seems that hes focusing TOO MUCH on the power. There's definitely some refining that needs to be done. He's vulnerable to counters, and fighting off the backfoot.

 

Ward would have his ****** Ass laid out on the canvas picking and eating fleas out of his little ****** head.

 

I think Ward is a close ugly fight just scrapes by. Golovkin puts on A LOT of pressure. Geale looked like he had done 11 rounds after the 1st.

 

Golovkin really impresses me with two things: his patience, and the way he cuts off the ring. His footwork is brilliant.

 

plus his jab. one fo the best in the sport.

 

What I have noticed in his fights is it really depends on opponent. In the first round GGG was very defensive and made Geale miss a lot, first part of second as well. Once he decided Geale had nothing for him, he just walked him down and ate one to give one.

Versus Stevens, who is not nearly the technical boxer Geale is, he was a lot more cautious. He still got hit, but not really very often.

I put Geale and Bika as fairly equivalent fighters. At least with sparring gloves, Geale also takes Bikas shots very well. How well would Ward take Golovkins shots? Its really unanswerable. What seems apparent is GGG hits much much harder than Bika. Sparring gloves make a difference, but not the type of difference where you go from regular hard work/sparring to obliterated in 3 rounds.

Something I also doubt is Wards ability to really hurt Golovkin. He probably hits harder than Geale, but I doubt he hits anywhere near as hard as Stevens.

Ward may well win the fight, but I doubt it would be a blowout. Its a shame we probably wont be able to find out anytime soon. :conf

I think this is what alot of fans and experts are overlooking Ward doesnt necessary hit hard but he is very strong there have been certain fights in particular Miranda & Froch where people felt they were going to be able to bully Ward but were sadly mistaken

Ward is strong. But a lot of that bullying was due to Wards vastly superior movement and leverage. In other words, skill over brute strength.

Karaganda, KZ is actually most famous for producing Greco Roman champions and Golovkin is well schooled from childhood. He still wrestles for fun. Thats actually a big reason I think the fight would be competitive.

Ward would be on a much more even playing field in regards to wrestling skill against Golovkin.

 

what on earth makes people think ggg could take ward at 168? based off what? would love to see the fight but i think ward would clown ggg hard. wards skill, movement, size, defense and accuracy would be too much for ggg.

 

Ward refused to fight Stevenson at 168, said that Kovalev is too big for him. Ward is tied up in court, very spoiled and will only fight in his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, gloves, etc., Ward would make nobody any money....................Golovkin will fight at 160 and unify the titles. Hagler fought at 160. If Ward wants a fight them he will have to fight Stevenson at 168, move up to 175 for Kovalev, or go down to 160 and fight Golovkin, but the money has to be there. Ward has priced himself out. I guess he will stay in court the rest of his life...........

Ward has a big fight against Stevenson, but refuses to take the fight, he won't fight Kovalev either................
