With the Froch/Groves rematch set according to the IBF President that only leaves Golovkin and Ward who along with Froch were listed as his short list of opponents. I can't imagine that Chavez's camp would want to face Ward when the smaller and aggressive Golovkin would seem like a much more favourable style matchup and winnable fight against a guy with alot of media attention currently.

Really hope this gets signed for the summer.

Golovkin is a bigger draw than Ward and chavez has a better chance at beating GGG than ward , so I think these reasons make Chavez vs GGG very plausible fight.

Chavez has a better chance of going the distance with Ward and not taking a beating that would impact his future.

    Against Golovkin: Not so much...

Everybody wants to pick on Chavez. But why Chavez doesn't pick an easier fight instead of going for GGG or Ward. Chavez didn't loose embarrassingly. Well, it was embarassing for 11 rounds but he did kd Martinez in the 12th round. Cavez should build up himself at 168 before going for something big, which (we all know) he will loose.

I wonder if Chavez Jr is still a "weak link at 168lbs" in Ward's eyes now?
I expect Chavez Jr to be elevated back to "young, hungry lion" status so Ward can get his PPV fight.:hey

I can only see this fight turning out one way. Chavez is so unskilled and undisciplined. It's hard to picture the flesh and blood of JC Chavez being stopped, but if anyone can do it, it's the Triple God.

You think Robert Garcia will make any difference in Chavez Jr's corner?

No way Chavez can ever make 160 again.

    Might happen at 168.

    Much more interedesting than GGG-Lee.
