It's plenty doable from a marketing standpoint with Lee as a common opponent.

Ward however will lobby hard at HBO so this fight doesn't get signed. He's been eyeing this Chavez payday for a while... he'd be in tears if it slipped away from him, to Golovkin of all people.

Arum hinted this from the start as Golovkin-Chavez is a mouth watering fight for ppv. Golovkin's profile in the US is much higher than Froch's, and Ward never had a shot getting the fight with Chavez as it would be one-sided and boring for the fans. It'd be 168 in Vegas in July. Sanchez & Loeffler in the past have said that Golovkin would move to 168 for Chavez and then back down to 160.

However, the old man might opt for the Steiglitz-Abraham winner then Golovkin if he thinks he can make more money that way. Put Chavez in with Golovkin now and the Chavez gravey train comes to an end. Question becomes, how long do they think Chavez will be willing to stay in the sport.

I'm hoping Golovkin gets Chavez and Martinez this year. Adama & Lee will have been a waste of his time & talent.

Normally he's more careful with his wording, doing everything he can to imply he wants or thinks a fighter will lose but passing on a solid prediction he would have to eat crow for. Lately, he's been pretty bold and explict with his predictions, though obviously scared to death of actually betting on them. Even if it's something as harmless as simply leaving these forums.

    That's likely the case.

I'm not completely sold on 3G, but there's good cause to be confident in his chances.

    Odds and ends:

JCCjr is often undisciplined.. but not unskilled. He took in boxing when he was still on his mom's tit. He also has great punch resistance.

GGG camp will "temporarily" move up for a JCCjr fight, where for Froch/Ward it wont happen until they permanently move up. In other words, dont be surprised in GGG doesnt step into the ring at his normal weight- he probably wont put on much mass for the fight. If he steps in the ring over 172 I would be very surprised.

K2 has been seeking this fight for a long time, and it was Arum who said K2 was seeking the fight not just K2 saying they want it so even though some bridge dwellers around here insist that K2 talks bunk the chances of K2 taking the fight if offered are close to 100%. Loeffler not about to waste Arum and HBO time, would make zero business sense.

GGG has much higher profile with US fight fans and US boxing media than Stieglitz/Abraham, is more beatable and a higher draw than Ward, and his scary punching power is less scary to a cruiserweight with great punch resistance. GGG and JCCjc need each other at this point, GGG needs a real high profile feather in his cap and PPV status to get Martinez instead of Canelo. After losing to Martinez, and the Vera fiasco Jr needs a popular fan friendly fight with a GGG to draw any PPV numbers and regain the good graces of fight fans.

If they both win their next, I say this fight has an extremely high chance of getting made.

I stand by that prediction if this fight happens.

That said, Golovkin's handlers are *NOT* putting their fighter in with Chavez @ 168lbs. NOT going to happen.

Well, I'm open on this fight.

Too bad it's not going to happen. No way in hell does Golovkin's handlers put him in the ring with Chavez @ 168lbs. This fight will *never* happen...

    Really?

What linear title does Baby Chavez hold?

Lets hope Martinez beats Cotto and agrees to fight Golovkin in his next fight...

    Oh really?

    How about a ban bet?

I'm betting that the Baby Chavez Golovkin fight will *NOT* happen in the next 6 months. If it does, I leave the forums for 30 days. If it doesn't, you leave the forums for 30 days.

    You game?

If Cotto wins, Golovkin ain't getting a shot @ the middleweight crown. It will be Mayweather Cotto II in the spring of 2015.

Can't be. Chavez Jr is a possibility for July, but "summer" is too soon for Martinez given his June date with Cotto.

HBO would use Lee to market the Chavez fight, use Chavez to market the Martinez fight and use the lineal MW champ angle to market a Ward fight.

Too many variables in play to confidently say Golovkin will get his big fight(s) in 2014.

    If he fights:

Lee in Spring, Chavez in summer, Martinez in fall, that's a great year for Golovkin
