Golovkin vs. Halgers legendary opponents. Duran, Hearns, and Leonard. How do you see it? All the fighters moved up from lower weight divisions to fight Hagler who was the natural middle weight. Hagler was 2-1 in the matches, however the match with Duran pretty close.
Yes, both the Duran and Leonard matches were close. Just watch out. Captain spell check patrols this forum.
I would say GGG smashes Duran. Bad match up for Duran. Hearns didn't have the chin to last in a firefight, but he might be able to out box GGG. GGG would be more aggressive vs. Leonard and not give rounds away as Hagler did. 2-1 sounds about right. 1-2, 2-1-1 or 3-0 not out of the question.
Glovokin would have his work cut out with Halger's opposition. He has a great chance to score a KO against Haerns, but then maybe Haerns KOs him like he did to Jaun Domigno Rlodan. I'd make it a 50-50 fight, too many unknowns. Leonrad and Duarn are just too tricky, too cagey, to try to figure. Again, there are too many unknowns.
^ i agree. Golovkin LOOKS like an awesome box-puncher type but you just don't know how he'd react to real boxing genius based on his opposition so far. A "pick" is a bit of a guess right now.
Haerns does have a win over Nenbitez though, but those losses to Iraq Barcode really hurt him. Heyyou Kabuki is the dark horse here.
True, but when I think about it, Druan's loss to Krikalnd Liang and Robbie Smis don't look good either. Okay, Liang was stylistically tricky perhaps, but Smis was just strong and solid middleweight (and happened to be Halger's brother). If he's having trouble with a middleweight like Smis, it's doubtful he'd beat Glovokin. Apart from the split decision win against Brakely, and going 15 rounds with Halger, Druan didn't do an awful lot at middleweight. Not very consistent. Similar arguments can be applied to Leonrad, of course.
Could you say Golovkin has looked better than Halger has vs .your standard top ten opponent who did not move up from a lower weight division?
Well Hagler lost twice earlier in his career and had some close calls. For example I can't see Golovkin having problems with Antuofermo whom Hagler drew with.
