The 1983 version of Duran would edge a decision against GGG in my honest opinion. He would outthink and outslick GGG.

Duran would be by large the better defensive fighter and more experienced/accomplished fighters. Duran loves punchers who come right at him (e.g Cuevas, Davey Moore, Hagler, barkley).

The first fight was close, I was at the second one, Minter won it easy.

Murray and Macklin are not world class.European level at best in a deeper era for Euro middleweights.

btw a very bold claim to say someone as tough as Vito has NO CHANCE of going the distance when a tough guy like Murray almost did, and probably would have in an era with refs more willing to let fights go longer.

I never liked Vito and would love to see him get his face smashed in by Golovkin, but i won't delude myself it might be a tough fight for him.

I thought the first Vito-Minter was close-ish but clear for Minter...if that makes sense.

I was there for the 2nd fight too McVey, Minter looked sensational...I believe that the 2nd Vito fight led many fans in the UK (& Minter, if the truth be known) to believe that the Hagler fight would be a clear Minter win.

Not so. Minter had some problems. Did you watch this fight?

The British judge, Roland Dakin, scored the fight 149-137 for Minter.

Judge Charles Minker of Las Vegas scored it 144-141 for Minter, while judge Ladislao Sanchez of Venezuela scored it 145-143 for Antuofermo.

The AP also had it 145-143 for Antuofermo. The decision was at odds with the scoring of many ringsiders. An informal poll of 17 writers covering the fight showed 10 scoring for Antuofermo, 5 for Minter and 2 scoring it a draw." -Associated Press

Minto at times kept Antuofermo away with his jab. Other times Antuofermo pushed Minto back to the ropes.

Antuofermo was not a big puncher. With his style and issues with cuts Golovkin would butcher him.

Minter was domininant vs Vito in the rematch...a very good, controlled performance.
