Golovkin vs Hagler. Who wins?

Golovkin may very well have the skills to be an ATG MW.

I just haven't seen him in with anyone good enough yet to compare him to Hagler, who was one of the toughest, most durable fighters ever IMO. I just can't pick against Hagler in this one..

At least with Jones Jr and Hearns, GGG would have a punchers chance.. I can't say he has one here.

 

Would have to wait 'till GGG's career's over to judge properly.

 

Thats because none of your class fighters have the balls to fight him.

 

Hagler wouldnt be able to hit GGG without putting himself in range.

I gotta agree, Hagler is the perfect fighter to counter GGG's style.

 

Aw .. c'mon Bailey - you want to see what his FANS think? Golovkin's one of my favourite fighters but right there you're basically declaring this to be a troll thread.

This is the kinda s#it I expect from El Chicano or (more recently) Lil Boosie.

How do you feel he'd do against an ATG? Indeed, broadening the conversation, how do you feel the rest of the divisional leaders would do against their respective ATG counterparts?

Golovkin would be a nightmare for Hagler, but I would have loved to have seen that fight, but that fight will never be seen........................

 

GGG needs another 20 or 30 victories before his resume looks as good as Haglers. He can speed the process up by fighting above his natural weight at super middle or light heavyweight. If he beats Froch, Ward, Quillin, Chavez Jr, then sure that might put him in the same company as the man who beat Bennie Briscoe, Thomas Hearns, and John Mugabi. So far all Golovkin has is Macklin and Geale which are maybe worth as much credit as Antuofermo and Minter. Golovkin has 27 KOs, Hagler has 52 KOs. Hagler had 14 defenses of a unified title and Golovkin has had 11 defenses of a piece of the title. He's still got to hunt down Soliman, Quillin, and Cotto. Perhaps, next year he'll unify the belts. The remaining middlweight champs are probably as good of scalps as Hamsho and Roldan's.

 

A good post but I disagree regarding Geale and Macklin being worth as much as Minter and Antuofermo. Minter in particular was a much higher class fighter than those two.
