Golovkin knocked down kovalev in sparring and hurt him bad............

but this would be one hell of a war but its pointless both these guys should just keep on beating up the trash talkers in the divisons like ward, quillin Stevenson, pascal ext

these guys paths don't need to cross both fighters would not be the same again also kovalev is a big light heavyweight golovkin is not a big MW

Wonder if a catchweight of 170 could be done? Normally I am against 'catchweight' fights but in this case of 2 savage punchers I will make an exception.

I'd have to favor Kovalev at 175.

I've heard that rumor that Golovkin knocked Kovalev down in a sparring but in a real fight if Golovkin had to jump two weight classes and go against a monster like Kovalev I don't see that ending well for him.

Still, Golovkin is such an exceptional talent that I wouldn't be surprised if he won.

Kovalev wins, without the footage I don't believe a word Abel Sanchez says about GGG's sparring sessions.

Find me the evidence Kovalev said he hits like a sledgehammer, I don't seeing Kovalev confirming he got dropped. I like GGG but Abel is a propagandist.

He is but I remember reading somewhere that Kovalev confirmed that Golovkin knocked him down but also noted that he was out of shape at the time

I couldn't give you link and its possible its just made up but I believe it since abel said it and then Kovalev possibly also corroborated the story

Abel Sanchez said GGG is the 2nd best middleweight ever behind Ray Robinson. Hes a complete idiot.

    From Kovalev's own website.

'One of the most promising Russian boxers won in the professional ring 19 wins (including 17 - ahead of time) and it is now at an age when it is time to move on to decisive action.

Sergey Kovalev, "Golovkin hits like a sledgehammer"

29-year-old Kovalev from Chelyabinsk - Russia main hope in the category to 79.4 kg. Reasonably judging that the talented Russian is ready to fight with the most powerful, the fate of the company in the face of promoter Main Event threw him a difficult test - the fight against former world champion Spaniard Gabriel Campillo, which will take place in January.

    - Many boxing fans have called the most spectacular Russian boxer. Whom do you consider the most-most?

    - It's nice to hear such reviews, however, to judge the currently very difficult. From the side, as they say, is more visible. If people like my boxing match and have to keep level. Although my fights have attracted attention even in the amateurs. Do not think that I get conceited. Just once the public likes what I'm doing, so going in the right direction. Logical?

    - It is. Still, let's go back to the previous question - about the "most-most".

    - I do not know who to call. A peculiar Dimka cake stands, but it happens boring fights. While working in the ring, he - a real GM. Or take the world champion in the category of up to 72.6 kg Gennady Golovkin. He stands for Kazakhstan, but I think it is ours. Gena We are on friendly terms, a lot of training together. Golovkin like and does not look very brutal, but what are his punches! Frankly, was stunned when his last opponent Grzegorz Proksa found the strength to reach the fifth round. Fellow Pole! I should not just standing with Golovkin in pairs and know very well the power of his fists. He hits like a sledgehammer. Here's a boxer, which I really like. It has a great future.

    - Golovkin now considered to be a star in America?

    - Not yet. He spent the ocean is just one fight. But really liked Americans.

    - Fans waiting for your fight with Campillo agree on one thing: if the Spaniard wins Kovalev, then later is sure to become a champion.

    - Campiglio - a good fighter, but in the years of amateur career, I have met with more serious guys. However, amateur and professional boxing - two different kinds of sports. Getting used to the style of the pros took me two years. Now I feel that it is time to carry out serious fights. After all, most of the previous opponents were obviously weaker than me.

    - Campillo considered unlucky: being in general a very good master, he was summarily condemned twice in championship fights.

    - I agree. Moreover, Gabriel said robbed of victory even in a fight with Karo Murat four years ago. Although, to tell the truth, I do not like to watch boxing fights on the internet. Usually only watch recordings of the nearest rival. What is the point to study man in his previous fights, against you if he can behave quite differently? In the ring, I try to focus on the situation. Boy - it's a fight, even if legalized. Here can only help their own, honed over the years in the gym developments. I believe that everyone must fight their way through it their best qualities.

    - Who will prepare you for a fight?

    - Former world champion John David Jackson. By the way, he helped Habib Allahverdiyev prepare for a recent league clash against Joan Guzman. In fact, with the coaches I recently did not develop. At one time even going to bring to America, his mentor from the fans, but the state of health did not allow him to come. Not to say that overseas coaches give me something fundamentally new. Just help to keep yourself in shape. Anyway, I'm going to his goal - to become a world champion. And then - to repeatedly defend the title.

    - You can say that you - their own coach?

    - So what the circumstances. On the other hand, not everyone will be able to teach me something new.

    - The Stranger "unwind" in America - a special art?

    - Another what? I spent three years without a promoter. Manager promoted me on their own, at their own expense organized fights, pay for accommodation and meals. As you know, he put me in a lot of money, with no guarantee that they will be able to "fight off". Now here's a signed agreement with the Main Event. The athlete, who had arrived in the United States, it is important to immediately get into the right hands.

    - The contract you have called the most important decision in their professional career. Sure not to make a mistake with the promoter?

    - From the Main Event received a decent offer. Bribes mutual interest and willingness of the company to get me on the really big fights. Of cash at the Main Event fighters were Zab Judah and Tomasz Adamek, but they are already on the decline. Therefore, the leaders stressed the firm: I have them - in the first place. They have made concessions in the contract, and this, in my opinion, speaks volumes.

    - Many of our professional boxers among the reasons that prompted them to leave the amateur boxing, call it a mixed structure and corruption. Why do you have left the fans?

    - To be honest, never thought about professionals. I was not interested. It seemed that in the pros otshibayut head, it's gladiatorial combat. But one day my coach Vladimir Viktorovich Roschenko had a heart attack. Plus in 2008 in Kaliningrad, I won the Russian championship and a victory in the final of the local fighters gave Alexander Moscow. All of these events are not the best impact on mental state. It appeared as if knocking on the door, but nobody opens. In a challenging moment for me, a friend who lives in the United States, has offered to train there. I'm an early age wanted to see America. In addition, I no longer cause charges to the amateur team. And this despite the fact that I was the vice-champion of the country! In general, I realized that in the national team for me not to expect, and was determined to leave. To have the ocean to prove that I did the best. In Russia did not see a future for themselves, and in the United States could try to start all over again and realize itself in full. You know, I wanted to show leaders that they are wrong.

    - As a result, changed their minds about professional boxing?

    - A person gets used to everything. Expected that at first it will be very hard. But, oddly enough, the conditions were quite tolerable. Even in training he saw nothing unexpected. Only realized that the key to athletic success - in proper nutrition. The diet of us was Don Turner, who trained Evander Holyfield in the best years of his career. When I switched to a useful plant food and refused to eat after six in the evening, then was able to significantly improve physical fitness. And generally a better feel.'

Kovalev did also confirm Golovkin dropped him too. Again, it was from an interview posted on his own website.

So what sparring isn't an actual Boxing match which people tend to forget far too often.
